Playing what everyone else forgot!

About Me

How's tricks! It's Matt here coming to you from sunny Dallas, Texas. For years I've been told I'm an 'old soul' knowing about and enjoying things that belong to a time that was generations before I was even born. Who knows maybe it's just like The Shining, and I've "always been here," born somewhere around 1904! I've been playing the accordion for about 5 years now, playing other instruments as well, primarily reed- clarinet and saxophone, but I've been known to play some tuba, ukulele, and banjo (for that good ole' 1920s sound!). For as long as I can remember, I've been fascinated and drawn to all things popular years before I was born, even before my parents were born to be honest! I wear vintage clothing on a regular basis, have always wanted a Studebaker, and as far as girls are concerned, "There is no Garbo! There is no Dietrich! There is only Louise Brooks!" While I do play the polkas and waltzes, my heart repertoire also includes music from the 1920s to the mid 1930s- everything from the popular tunes that everyone still knows to the more obscure tunes like Hiawatha's Lullaby, Rain, The Wedding of the Painted Doll, etc. A lot of music I play even manages to predate that- ragtime, vaudeville, and other novely tunes of the day like Mariutch, Cubanola Glide, Old King Tut, Bo-La-Bo, etc. Songs from composers like Irving Berlin, Scott Joplin, and Harry Von Tilzer and made famous by names such as Ada Jones, Billy Murray, and Irving Kaufman, just to name a few. So if you're in town, swing by and take a listen! I'm also proud to announce that my CD is out and up for grabs- if you're in the Dallas area I welcome you to come by and pick up a copy in person, and I'm happy to send them out in the mail as well! The accordion tends to be the main focus of the CD, but various other instruments are heard as well, and I play all of those heard on the recordings- tuba, clarinet, banjo, ukulele, and the elephantine bass saxophone. While my 1926 Royal typewriter is fantastic for writing dime novels, it unfortunately has troubles connecting to the outside world, so if you wanna drop me a line on AIM my sn is 'Rollini505' or gimme a buzz at (469) 235-9658 if you're lookin' for an accordion player, I AM for hire! So if you're into the old, odd, and the obscure I welcome you! If you're not, well... listen anyway!I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4

In the realm of "the old, the odd, and the obscure," Sweet Madness is no exception. No, it's not the latest pop tune by Amy Kurylo- it's an old tune from the pen of Ned Washington and Victor Young, an...
