About Me

ONTHE-VERGE.COM is a music life:style website and promotional outlet that was created and developed to uncover and expose independent progressive soul and jazz music that most often goes unheard due to insufficient exposure, support and promotion.
There are numerous independent recording artists that make positive music contributions to what has become a thriving independent soul music culture, but because of the "commercial powers that be" independent or "unsigned" artists are not given the same opportunities to be heard and exposed. In turn, a large percentage of the listening public are not made aware of the incredible talent and music that exists outside of the commercial arena.
Our mission through ONTHE-VERGE.COM is to support, promote, uncover, discover and enjoy music and artists (past, present and future) via internet tastemaking, online branding, target promotions and lifestyle marketing in conjunction with live concert productions.
Our focus at ONTHE-VERGE.COM is to reach forward thinking music lovers that make music their life:style and to continue to help build a stronger, more visible independent music culture.

REPLIFE...THE UNCLOSED MIND
(Futuristica Music) 2008
Much more than ‘just another hip hop album’, the Replife sound is often described as a fusion of hip hop, nu-jazz, nu-soul and broken beat - although even this description fails to capture the freshness and innovation behind the music and artist! And with this album Replife shows himself not only as a gifted rapper, poet, singer and writer but as a master of ceremonies, pulling together talent from across the globe to complete one sonorous musical thought. “The Unclosed Mind” is a collaboration with a who’s who of talented contemporary musicians, producers, and vocalists.
Dego of 4Hero and Bugz in the Attic’s Kaidi Tatham combine to produce the spaced-out J Dilla tribute “Spirit", Mark de Clive-Lowe drops the heavyweight “Emerald City", Atjazz produces the infectiously bouncy “Put It Down", featuring rising Swedish vocalist Kissey Asplund, then there are the warm, intricate duets with UK based vocalist Deborah Jordan (Silhouette Brown), “Elevation” and “Pangea” to name but a few. “The Unclosed Mind” is a journey through the thought-provoking, the abstract, the inspirational, the danceable, and the musical. With lyrics both challenging and inspiring Rep affirms his place as an original and unique emcee through the trials and tribulations of urban life and creates a musical soundscape that inevitably captures the ear and mind of the listener.
