"A tyrant must put on the appearance of uncommon devotion to religion. Subjects are less apprehensive of illegal treatment from a ruler whom they consider god-fearing and pious. On the other hand, they do less easily move against him, believing that he has the gods on his side." ~ Aristotle
My first love is MUSIC. I always welcome new musicians to ask for a friend request because I love finding new music that I like. I don't discriminate according to genre; if the music moves me, I'll listen to it. So, don't be shy about asking for a friend request.
I also love to sing. I've been singing since I was a very small child. I remember listening to musicians like Michael Jackson, Bonnie Tyler, Bon Jovi, Sue Thompson, Cyndi Lauper and Elton John on the radio and singing right along as soon as I learned to talk. My mom can attest to that. I take singing very seriously but I rarely have the nerve to do it around other people. This talent runs in my family on both my mom's side and my father's side. My uncles are singers and my great grandmother was a terrific singer and songwriter. Music is medicine.
I'm amazed by vintage costume jewelry for so many reasons; one being the uniqueness of the pieces. I love designers like Trifari, Coro, Lisner and Miriam Haskell to name a few. Besides collecting costume jewelry, I make my own jewelry and I'm also into beadweaving.
This is an example of my beadweaving. It's a traditional Penobscot Indian symbol.Another obsession that I have is BOOKS. I have nearly a thousand of them in my living room alone. I especially enjoy vintage and antique books. The oldest book in my collection is nearly 130 years old.
I believe that knowledge is power and much of our knowledge can be gained by reading books. In the day and age of the internet and television, books are often ignored and left to rot on the shelves. My great grandmother once said that leaving a book to rot on a shelf is the best way to kill it. I prefer to keep them alive and they keep my brain alive in return.
I have to count people that are deceased not only because they deserve our recognition but also because there just aren't many great heroes nowadays.
