Mostly you'll find me playing with my buddies Mike Stowe, Mark Muretisch and hank Sobah. http://www.marksmusicplace.com/ All are accomplished singers/ songwriters and somehow we manage to pull it all together and share. That clash you hear on stage is not our egos. With maturity and years of performing among us, we are here for the love of the music and the fun of meeting new folks. We come from diverse backgrounds finding a common ground and a respect for stylistic differences that allows us to support one another as we venture out from the home base of old timey/ down home music. I love being out and performing with these guys and watching what unfolds as each previews a new tune or a new direction. Many thanks to the dedicated assistance of Bill Dodd/ owner/ engineer/ and friend. His Mud Hut Studio in Sharon, Pennsylvania provides an atmosphere that worked out well for all of us.Link here for a review of the CD released 4/22/2006:
http://www.jsonline.com/blog/?id=79On the cd... Dennis vocals and guitar, Mike Stowe, & Gretchen Steinmetz harmony vocals, Vince Camut pedal steel guitar and dobro, Bob Banerjee violin and mandolin, Logan McCurdy bass, Robert Allen bass, Bill Dodd bass, Logan McCurdy drums and Betsy Stowe on the high note!
Influences: The influences in my music range over a 40 year period and includes acts as divergent as the Rolling Stones, who first set me afire, to Tom Rush, who changed the whole direction my music took. I appreciate all of the roots/ folkie/ traditional musicians who make up Americana. I love regional artists who have produced a great body of work and present it frequently, if only to limited audiences. Most recently I have become a big fan of Paul Thorn and Buddy Miller. But, give me Jimmie Rogers (the yodeling one), or Hank Williams (the old one), Ramblin' Jack Elliot, Roy Book Binder, Chris Smither, Page Wilson, Lyle Lovett, Austin Lounge Lizards, Paul Thorn, Shawn Mullins or the Dry Branch Fire Squad or other too numerous to mention and I can listen for hours.
