About Me

This site is primarily designed to showcase some of my recorded material, and to facilitate the auditioning of potential band members and studio collaborators. The songs on this latest album were entirely self-recorded and self-produced, and for the most part I played all the instruments (Randy Lempert played drums on 2 songs, Sean Johns played piano on 1). I'm looking to form a wide circle of musicians and songwriters to work with in the studio, and within that circle, a tighter knit group of musicians to form a band with. I have rehearsal space in South Central Austin, and at this point I'm not looking for a huge commitment from anyone, I just want to get people in there to jam and see what works. I wouldn't expect people to duplicate my recorded material, and I wouldn't shove my stuff down peoples throats, I am not a dictator. I do however think that I have some strong original songs that stand up on thier own, and also a few interesting things to cover, and as long as other musicians can bring the same to the table, then I'm open to it. In fact, I'd say that I respect self-motivation and creativity most, and I'd hope that those qualities would provide the driving force in a group. Anyone interested should email me ([email protected]) ASAP with the best way to contact them, what instrument(s) they play, and some idea of what days in the week that they're available to jam.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: IM me: patathomas2000 on AOL, Yahoo or Windows
Band Members: I sing and play guitar, and in a studio setting, I can cover most other instruments. To form a band, I'm looking for drummers, bassists, pianist/keyboard players, percussionists and possibly another guitar player. For studio collaborations, I'm looking for any and all types of musicians.
Influences: Oh boy, the fun part... This will obviously be incomplete, and I'll only try to list the more popular artists, and ones that might reflect a sound that I'm after: Dylan, Hendrix, Led Zep, Santana, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, The Doors, The Animals, Booker T & the MGs, CCR,The Allman Brothers, The Byrds, The Band, Muddy Waters (and a whole shitload of blues players that would require a whole other list), The Rolling Stones, Cream, The Beatles, Humble Pie, Curtis Mayfield, Funkadelic, The Meters, Professor Longhair, Janis Joplin, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus, Django, Cameron, Paco deLucia, Gabor Szabo, Bueno Vista Social Club, Mongo Santamaria, Sabicas, Ray Barreto, Tito Puente, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, Buck Owens, Graham Parsons, hmmm more current; Prince, SRV, The Black Crowes, Lenny Kravitz..... The White Stripes, The Blue Van, Jet, Mars Volta..... Since the advent of filesharing, my musical tastes have become vast and esoteric, so this really hardly makes a dent.
Sounds Like: I'd like the band as a whole to have a rock-r&b-soul-latin sound, and branch out from there. My personal guitar style sounds like (at my best), Jimi, Carlos, Eric Clapton, Peter Green and Jimmy Page, rolled together with a few others. My main thing is to just try to be subtle and dynamic, qualities many electric guitar players forget, and to add only what each song demands. I can also spread out, playing slide, alt. tunings, acoustic, nylon string, etc. Becoming a multi-instrumentalist (mostly keyboards and bass) in a way taught me alot about the guitar as well, and made me more versatile and well-rounded.

Alright, I've moved the pics I was working on into my photo area, as they were too small loading up with the songs. They're cropped pretty close to the specified size, and I'm waiting until I get the ...

Mypace song (over)compression...

Alright, I've reposted my songs after doing some minor EQ changes, mostly to increase bass/drum distinction. Also, I've experimented with rendering the mp3s at the lowest (64kps) possible resolution i...
