About Me

As Reader at a London university, Dr Hillegonda Rietveld researches and writes about underground dance music cultures. She supervises various postgraduate research projects in this field.

Feel free to peruse the linked online articles.Hillegonda is Course Director of a unique undergraduate course, BA (Hon) Sonic Media, at the Department of Arts, Media & English. This course provides a focus on the mediation of sound & music (click here for more information about the course).

In the early 80s Gonnie recorded experimental dance music with electro-acoustic outfit Quando Quango for Factory Records, Manchester, England (click here for QQ discography and here for QQ biography).

She was also closely involved with Manchester's nightclub the Haçienda, FAC51 . In 1992 she curated a multi-media exhibition about this seminal cultural institution for Manchester Metropolitan University.
