Gavana (Anna Gavanas) is on a dub mission. It started at Subdub in Leeds a couple of years ago, where she awakened into "roots steppin inna year 3000 style."
Gavana DJs out of a longstanding obsession with vinyl treasures. What are the stories behind these objects? Which stories do they tell and what experiences do they convey?
Through her productions, Gavana provokes reflections, raises questions and conveys experiences in sound. She builds her compositions like original soundscapes, combining software and hardware instruments. Gavana's main inspirations are UK steppas dub and dubstep. But the tracks posted above are also influenced by boozed up monster moms and 1950s housewife clones.
With DJ Anaya, Gavana was the founder of Sister Sthlm and Ana International Penetrator. Gavana was also part of various DJ collaborations, such as Kvinnosaksklubben, Birdhouse and Partille Bass Crew.
Gavana also teams up withDJ AimnbreakasDJplaneten , a 'no holds barred' DJ and musical production collaboration.
Gavana is currently focusing on production and is taking a break from DJ bookings.
