About Me

I want to make music that moves people. That is Ryan Tylers mission statement. She is not shy to admit that for a while she had a hard time remembering her own motto. Losing her record deal in 2004 forced her to dig down deep to find that very part of her spirit. I had to ask myself why I was a writer? I needed to recall what connected me to music as a young girl. It was time I recognized the part of music that carried me through my own personal trials and put that at the forefront. After losing what she had worked so hard to gain, Ryan was reminded the pupose of a song. The purpose for a song is to evoke passion, inspiration, and mood.Ryans songs relate to the spirit and soul of a person. Yet, in good balance she also writes songs that emulate her outgoing, spitfire personality. Her lyrics convey a message from her life experiences. She grasps from influences across the map including: Gary Allan, Fleetwood Mac, Garth Brooks, Nirvana, Dixie Chicks, Johnny Cash and more. Throughout the years, Ryan has worked towards perfecting her sound and outstanding live performance. Although her voice is a blend of her various influences, she certainly maintains a unique, powerful sound that even her peers recognize to be unlike anyone else. Ryans live performance, well, that is what keeps the fans coming back for more. She has been told she is just the same on stage as she is off stage: magnetic, personable and full of life.Although Ryan grew up in Georgia singing, she was not always singing country music. I grew up in a home where Amy Grant was always on the stereo. I really didnt start listening to country music until college. Thats when I was introduced to so many different styles of music. My roommate was a huge country fan and we listened to it all the time. After a whileI was hooked! She started her first band her senior year of college at Arizona State University and later moved to Seattle fronting a rock band. However, her love for the haunting sound of pedal steel grew and she finally moved to Nashville in 2001.After singing in an all-girl country band there and working with renowned producer, Scott Hendricks, Ryan was finally offered a record deal with Arista Records in 2003. Her first single, Run, Run, Run, topped the country charts at ..33 and her second, The Last Thing She Said went to ..37. After only 12 weeks on the charts and major market radio stations still adding her record to their play lists, Ryan was let go from her label.Getting dropped from Arista was one of the greatest heartbreaks in her life but it also helped her realize that she needed to focus more on her writing. Although Ryan co-wrote her second single, many of the songs she initially presented to radio were not her own. Ryan had been a part of the writing process in almost all of her bands. She knew it was time to get back to writing and recording stories from her own heart.Ryan Tylers journey is about rising and falling but never giving up on her dream. It is about re-connecting with the passion in music that she was first drawn to as a girl. It is about her desire to better her writing, singing and performing skills and then the hard partwaiting for her next opportunity. Committed to sharing her music with the world, Ryan feels like right now she is preparing for her next move. One thing Ive learned in my life is never give up what you love doing, because there will be a new adventure if you can wait for it. Its interesting, but every time one door closes in my life, another door opens. Im looking forward to whats next.
