About Me

I am not from a small town you’ve never heard of, or another country with hopes and dreams of making it to Nashville, TN. I am from Nashville. Music City. Where dreams can be discovered by those who have traveled far to find them and the locals focus on business, and back up plans. I was born in the heart of it at Baptist Hospital to two parents, a sister and a brother. I’ve loved music since I was a baby. When I was five my parents put a butter box with a ruler taped to it in my hands to teach me how to hold a violin. A year later, my violin class played at the Governor’s mansion. After that, music became a passion of mine. I started making up songs and especially enjoyed creating the lyrics. I did my share of solos, plays, concerts and studio work. In high school one of my part time jobs was singing on the little records children sang along with in Sunday school. I made the University Choir in college, but listened to my Dad as he encouraged me to study business over music. After all, I was a local girl with an out of towners dream. I saw how many brilliant and talented people flocked here every year giving everything they had to make it. I saw how many of those brilliant and talented people left this town broke and broken. Still, I couldn’t stop the songs from seeping into my head. After a very special friend of mine and some Music Row executives encouraged me to write more and to continue collaborating with other writers, I started recording some of my songs. Some are personal journals of my life and I am happy to say some aren’t. Sometimes there are stories to be told that aren’t ours. I don’t write in a box because I don’t think in a box. My songs are happy, sad, simple and complicated. They are a gift given to me and a gift that I give. I hope you enjoy them. I certainly enjoyed writing them.
