About Me

When describing Fire Blade it is hard to write a concise description. We are so limited by printed word. If you can visualize a razor sharp, molten heated diamond blade, slicing fine silk, then you are visualizing Fire Blade. These guys are diverse and the same, all at one time. They have set a standard for all cover/original material bands to follow for the next twenty-five years. There style stems for a true love of two very different, yet the same musical styles. These guys were born in the south and love Skynryd. In addition to southern rock all 3 of the guys like the Scorpions. When you combine these two styles with the fire blade personality of the band you get a cornucopia of Southern Fried Bratwurst Rock n Roll, with smoking guitar leads, which you thought you could only hear on Scorpions records. Well thats the overall picture. Hopefully by now you feel like you have known Fire Blade all your life.Meet the Band!!!! Steven- Drums and lead vocalsSteven is not scared to rock. He got his first drum set when he turned 12. Later that year he entered a talent contest at the local middle school in Virginia, where he grew up. That when Va. knew there was a rock star growing up there. He did a drum only version of Free Bird. When he finished the contestants and audience went crazy. Thirteen people were hospitalized for crush wounds when the audience rushed 12-year-old Stevens drum riser. The only way he soothed the crowd was to play an encore. Steven chose a drum only version of Rock you like a Hurricane. The crowd worked into a frenzy but agreed to leave after he finished. Steven pioneered a new style of music in his late teens. He was playing solo. His drum/vocal style was one that was new. He took his act to LA where it was accepted for a short period. Then his style became the laughing stock of the city. When he would play drums and sing at local writers nights the audience mocked him and called him names. After a year of ridicule and being called names such as dumberito the stupid drumming freakerito Steven reached the end of his rope. He called of his career for 2 years. Then he met Jeff, after not seeing him since the band Potbelly Hamturkeys. Things clicked, they met Robert and the rest is yet to come.Jeff - Bass and lead vocalsJeff grew up in North Carolina. He was a late bloomer in music. He had difficulty learning to read as a child. This hampered Jeffs ability to interact in social situations. He learned to read at the age of 16. He only spoke in grunts and gnarl sounds until he was ten. All of this changed when Jeff picked up his first bass guitar. His parents and church leaders couldnt believe it when he played for the first time. I always thought that Jeff would end up in a sheltered home or asylum, until he found music, commented Susan Blinkley, Jeffs guidance.counselor. When I heard Jeff was playing in a band I was thrilled, you should have seen his parents. Jeff had been in many bands before with Steven, drums and lead singer, but they never really got along. In one band, Potbelly Hamturkeys, Jeff lunged at Steven separating his collarbone and breaking out Stevens front row of teeth.Luckily these two put aside their differences and respected each others musical ability, luckily for the fans. Jeff commented, When I first heard Steven, drums and lead singer, it was like listening to my favorite song on my favorite CD, over and over again but for the first time. I knew that if we could collaborate we could make a hit record, which they have with their debut release Razor Blade Milkshake. We are ready to rock the free world. It should also be noted that Jeff plays with the singer/songwriter Masa.Robert - lead guitar backing vocals Robert grew up in a small town in South Carolina. There was not much of a music scene in that town until little Robert turn 10. He started taking guitar lessons when he was 4 years old. He was a perfectionist. While Roberts friends were playing in Underoos with G.I. Joe toys Robert was memorizing all the guitar parts from the Yes album Close to the Edge. This was such a feat that Robert earned an honorary merit badge from the Boy Scouts of America. By age 10 Robert was a powerful music industry icon in South Carolina. He was gigging regularly and maintaining commendable marks in school. In the summer of his tenth year of life he joined the metal band Verbal Vomit. This is when Robert went from technical excellence to just plain rockin hard on the guitar. He was with Verbal Vomit for 6 years. Late in 2000 Robert hooked up with Jeff and Steven to form the band Fire Blade. When I heard Jeff and Steven jamming one day, I knew this was something I wanted to be a part of, commented Robert. I knew this was my ticket to the top, and all the fans would be able to catch the bus with us. No ego here, just rock n roll...
