About Me

I like real people with interesting stories to tell. I despise passive aggressive people, racists, overly PC types, and judgemental hypocrites. Music is a major passion in my life, as is writing. I write songs, sing, and play guitar and bass. I dabble in other instruments, such as banjo, keys, and drums, but still have a lot to learn about them.

I am the singer for recently reunited Ramones tribute band 1234. Come see what could be our last show ever Dec 6 at Funhouse.

I also sang, wrote, and played lead guitar for Funnel Cake in the late 90s. Some of that stuff may just pop up down the line when you least expect it...

I'm currently working on original material under the band name Dicky Moe. Look for a Fall or Winter '08 release.

Once in a while I played bass for live heavy metal karaoke with members of Zero Down, The Squirrels, Hartwood, and The Beltholes.

Plus I'm now playing drums for Doll Squad. This is my first stab at being a drummer in a band, and I'm loving it.

I am also currently available for studio work, live show fill-ins, and anything else musically interesting as a guitarist, bassist, vocalist, songwriter, producer, or consultant. Rates are negotiable. I'm not currently looking to join another band, but if the right situation arose (like one that pays a shit load of money), I could possibly be persuaded.

Recently I recorded vocals on a cover of "Blitzkrieg Bop" for an X-Box game to be released in September 2008. I can't tell you what the game is called, as I don't know yet. All I know is it's "like Guitar Hero." I did, however, record vocals for a cover of "Personality Crisis" by The New York Dolls for Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, available June '08. Both tracks feature music by producer / multi-instrumentalist Steve Ouimette. Conrad Uno recorded my vocal tracks.

I wrote for the Seattle, WA based Underground Magazine from March 2006 to June 2008. My work was often also seen in the Portland, OR based Exotic Magazine. I can be contacted through this page regarding any free lance writing gigs.

My first book, "Why I Didn't Kill Bon Jovi" was a raging success with the dozen or so people I let read it. However, after much internal debate and near fatal procrastination, I will be doing some serious editing before foisting this collection of short stories on the public. By serious editing, I mean pulling some pieces out, plugging others in, and resequencing the whole thing. As it will likely be a completely different animal, I'm even considering a title change.

I drink, smoke, and make horrifically bad personal decisions on a regular basis. Yet I seem to land on my feet more often than I fall on my ass. I attribute this to good friends, dumb luck, and a stubborn refusal to accept "reality".

My Interests

Good music, good times, good people.

SOME RECENT PROJECTS:

Vocals - cover of "Blitzkrieg Bop" by The Ramones for an unnamed X-Box game to be released Sept '08

Vocals - cover of "Personality Crisis" by The New York Dolls for Guitar Hero: Aerosmith - available June '08!

Bass - live Heavy Metal Karaoke!

Drums - Doll Squad

Backing vocals - DragStrip Riot (sessions for soon to be released album, "Damn!" - produced by Jack Endino!!!)

Musical Director/Guitar/Vocals - Undercover (featuring members of way too many bands to list here)

Various pieces for Underground Magazine

Dicky Moe - recording debut album at Egg Studios with Conrad Uno producing!!! I wrote the songs, sang 'em, and played all of the instruments on the album except the drums and most of the keyboards. Stay Tuned...

I also recently found the time to make a huge pot of really tasty marinara sauce, complete with sausage, pepperoni, and homemade meatballs.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who:

- can help me get my book published

- wants to hire me as a writer

- needs songs, a studio musician, etc

- will pay me an 8 figure salary to drink bourbon and smoke Cuban cigars on a beach in St. Maarten.

Music:

Here's a few clips from the Undercover show at Fenix (now Showbox SoDo) Dec 29, 2006. All videos shot by Marci Smith.

Movies:

Anything involving Mel Brooks, Michael Moore, Quentin Tarentino, John Waters, or Kevin Smith. Also Caddyshack, Blues Bros, The Big Lebowski, Rubin and Ed, Rock and Roll High School, Breakfast Club, Taxi Driver, Matrix, Lord of the Rings, 80s teensploitation flicks, and many, many more. I also recommend "Jerkbeast", a locally produced film produced by and starring the members of Steaming Wolf Penis.

Television:

Daily Show, Colbert Report, Weeds, Dexter, Californication, Law And Order in all it's manifestations, The Shield - just to name a few current shows. I also love WKRP In Cincinnati (never jumped the shark - ever!), MASH, Sopranos, Six Feet Under and other classics too. Of course I would be remiss if I left out The Joy Of Painting, starring the human quaalude, Bob Ross!

Books:

My full length debut, "Why I Didn't Kill Bon Jovi". It's a combination of the 1234 show diaries, observations on music and the music business, and other strange tales I couldn't have made up if my life depended on it.

Some recent reads - "The Tao Of Willie" - Willie Nelson with Turk Pipkin, "Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs" - Chuck Klosterman, "Who's Afraid Of A Large Black Man?" - Charles Barkley.

Heroes:

Meatball - not toasted, or roast beef, salami, and provolone...but all things being equal I'd rather have a cheese steak.

A few things about the anniversary of the WTC attacks.

I grew up in the shadow of what we called The Twin Towers. I'll never forget the early mornings in my late teens working on the ramp at Newark Airport, which on a clear day boasts a com...

Iron Maiden - Great. White River Amphitheater - Sucks.

Short version: Iron Maiden was great. Bruce Dickinson was in great voice, actually better than he ever was 20 years ago. The rest of the band seemed to be spot on too. I say seemed to be because I cou...
