About Me

***To those who wanna add me as MySpace friends: ....

Please understand , although I book bands using this profile, this is my personal site. I will only approve people that I actually know and have met in real life. That includes bands! Send me a message if you know me and I didn’t know you are on MySpace.....

ALSO!!!! I’m not into all those apps, so don’t think I hate you if I don’t accept an app you invite me to.....

.. ..

***Booking shows:....

As some of you may know, I produce and book shows at a few venues in ....Seattle..... If I’ve never worked with you, shoot me a message and we’ll see if I can help you out. I’m not a full time booker anywhere anymore, so, if I can’t fit you into one of my shows, I have a few good friends that book full time that I can send you to.....

So, you wanna know ‘bout me? Well, here goes: ....

From the start… I was born November 8 th 1974, at ....Highline.. ..Hospital.... in Burien (Seattle), at last call (1:41 am), born to an American Mother and Canadian Father. I grew up in ..North Seattle.., Maple Leaf to be exact, up until about Middle School, and then lived in Kent and Burien with my father. I also spent most my summers in ....North Vancouver.., ..BC.... with my Canadian Family. Then bounced back and forth from my Mother’s and Father’s places until dropping out of High School. After dropping out of High School, I lived with my father, in ....Kent...., keeping him active thru his years of cancer. ....

My Father, a true man of the sea, started building a sailboat” the day I was born, named “ Shims’n’Putty . As they say, “The Keel was laid on November 8, 1974.” The project dragged on slowly. Many obstacles were thrown in front of his great project, some including divorce, work , bankruptcy, having a place and shop to build, and then cancer. But the dream was always there. I entered the project in full steam after he was diagnosed with his cancer. Together, we finished the boat within about a year or so. At that point I was about 16. Once the boat was in the water, we did nothing but sail her all thru Puget Sound, The San Juan Islands, up the Inside Passage and circumnavigated ..Vancouver Island... ....

The other thing my Dad ingrained into my head was music. He was a successful trombone player. He was one of the founding members of the Jazz Police. His music influence, along with my Mothers, gave me the needed shove to play music. I started out in middle school learning to play a guitar. I quickly found that my fingers moved along a bass much better. I bought an electric bass and broke the guitar on stage at a show during a show with my CCR/Punk high school band called Crash Freeway. ....

My “music career” took me thru my mid-20’s . I played with numerous rock and punk bands. I found myself in a group of notable rock and grunge musicians, including Mike McCready from Pearl Jam, Layne Staley from ....Alice.... in Chains, and Baker Saunders from Mad Season. I felt I was truly on my way to the top! Well, this all came to an abrupt end when my Dad passed away. I let myself slip into a depressed period, turned into a drugged up, drunk hermit crab. I basically told everyone to fuck off and did nothing but work on boats. Sobering up for a few years was my only way out of this rut. With success. .. ....

After that era, I started a Tugboat Company with an old pal. My Dad used to say that when I was a little kid, every time I saw a tugboat I’d shout out, “Stink-Boat, Daddy, Stink-Boat!!” Another thing my Dad always told me is “if you want to do something, you gotta hang with the best in that realm.” Something I always managed to do. I befriended some of the best at Tugboatin ’, learning the ropes in a hurry and found that I was actually really good at running a Tug. I made it my life. We bought three Tugs and pushed our way into a really hard business to start out in. As of date, business has dropped off to where we’ve decided to sell off the boats. It’s kinda perfect timing for me, as I’m back in the music scene. No worries, I’ll always be “Tugboat Jim” !.... ....

In the beginning of 2006, I started feeling the pull to entertain again. This entertainment isn’t just playing music again, but music is involved. With a close friend for the Tugboat Community, we started The Seattle Party Crew . The idea behind the S.P.C. is to gather a large amount of people together, build huge parties, help promote local shows, and truly support the local rock/punk music scene here in ....Seattle.... by introducing this music to more and more people. See, there is much, much more to music then major label bands! The S.P.C. is growing and evolving faster then anyone had expected. It’s been a great run so far, I have been so lucky to meet many people thru this, including a large amount of influential people in the music industry. As my Dad used to say, “ if you want to do something, you gotta hang with the best in that realm.” ....

Now that I’m surrounded by the music industry, I was drawn into playing again. As of late, I’ve been playing bass with Urine Idiot and Thugg Bass The Mindless Thuggs . Urine Idiot was my main focus as so far, and I’m very excited about this project. Urine Idiot has played several shows; we recorded a bit, but with most bands starting out, little hick-ups caused the band to go into hiatus. Currently, I’ve been song writing and recording these songs on my own until I can find some dedicated musicians to put a new band together with. Also, I’ve been working for The Paperboys as their NW stage manager. Hangin ’ with those guys has been fun. I’m hoping they decide to take me to ..Europe.. soon, when they tour again there, HINT HINT !!!! In addition to all that, I’ve been managing a great band called Seeing Blind . As well as sound engineering at a few venues and producing (booking) shows here and there.....

It’s funny, I was just thinking about the local music scene. I’ve got myself so into local music that I don’t even listen to mainstream shit on the radio anymore. In fact, I hardly listen to radio. I do my best to make it to, at least, a show a week. Sometimes it’s several shows a week. If you find a local band(s) you like, you gotta support them by showing up to their shows. Check out my music box, I’ll list bands that I love and support. Click them and you’ll find their websites. ....
