YOU CAN'T KILL A MAN BORN TO HANG

About Me

I love acoustic music.I think it's important to appreciate all music on some level...even if you hate it. Keeping an open mind prevents aging. But I always come back to the basics...whether it's folk, acoustic blues, acoustic-style classic rock...there's just something pure about it...raw and unencumbered.

I'm rather fond of songwriters, too. I never intended to be a songwriter myself; in fact, I don't really think I am a songwriter...every so often one will just sort of create itself, and I happen to be in the right place at the right time with a pencil. (There are a couple of 'em up there in that player if you'd care to take a listen.)

Uncle Skip said even if you've only written one song, you're a songwriter. And if you see somebody tappin' their foot to it or being moved by it somehow, you might actually be a halfway decent songwriter.

You know what else? There are a lot of really good songs out there. A LOT. I like to find really good songs that most people have never heard and perform them for those poor people who haven't heard them. I think it's important. And every so often I'll even slip 'em one of my own.

So I'm holding true to the intent of my initial concept: to expose as many people as I can to songwriters they might have otherwise never encountered and some of the wonderful music that could have passed by them unheard. This is my quest...my mission in F'nBb...to spread the musical gospel of my unsung heroes. Pretty good work if you can get it.

If by chance you've found me through a MySpace search for acoustic music, then you probably love acoustic music, too. I'll be rotating other MySpace musicians through my Top 8 every couple of weeks so please come back and visit, and if you see an artist you aren't familiar with, I urge you to check out their pages and their music. I wouldn't want you to miss anything.

I've obviously been a real lame ass finishing my Top 8 blogs, what with no mention of Todd Snider, Peter Cooper or Phil Ochs.  Since today is Todd Snider's 40th birthday, I guess I ought to start...
