I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I love to laugh and have fun...and music makes every day worthwhile. I have a "warped" sense of humor and seem to have a few friends, but the friends I have are close. I grew up in Columbus, Indiana, which is about 1/2 way between Indianapolis and Louisville. Most of my life, I had a brother. That sounds odd, I know, but when I was 26 years old, was married and had three kids of my own, our mother announced that she was pregnant! So, the past 21 years of my life, I have had a brother AND a sister. For the first several years, she seemed more like a niece than a sister. She'll be 23 in a few weeks and it is hard to remember life without her now. Mom and Dad had always wanted a girl, so now they had one. She was basically raised like an only child. My brother had a wife and two children himself. He's 2 1/2 years younger than me. He is now a grandpa twice over, and I'm still waiting. I'm content to wait though. Life isn't always fair. My brother and I got to spend 40+ years to get to know and love our Mom. Sadly, when my sister was 16, Mom lost a 9 month battle with cancer. We all handled the loss differently. My sister chose to go to school the next couple of days after her passing. I took off work to help with the arrangements and to call friends and family. My brother did the same. I threw a wrench in the gears, so to speak, when it came time to choose pall bearers. We had discussed it with Mom a month and a half before she died and had them chosen, but I decided after her death that I wanted to be one too. After all, she carried ME into this world and I felt honored to be able to carry her out. I chose the head of the casket on her right side to be my place. It was hard but I'm glad I did it. Another unusual thing we did, and it is popular at funeral homes now, is provided a slide show on a laptop computer, of pictures of her life, from the time she was a small girl up until her last few months of life. Everyone just went on about how nice it was, and it was. She would have been proud. I'll add to this later...there is more to me than what I can put here in one sitting. Until then... :)

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I've met some pretty remarkable people in my life, so this is difficult to answer. I guess, if I had a choice, it would have to be John Glenn or Neil Armstrong. They were pioneers...not unlike Lewis and Clark. They didn't have to worry about hostile native Americans, angry bears or stampeeding buffalo. Their journey didn't last 18 months but, in some cases, a few short hours. The danger was just as real. They went places that no one had ever gone before. Now, I have to clarify that last statement, in regards to Lewis and Clark...the native Americans were living in those places, but caucasions had not traveled that far west. Anyway...that's who I'd like to meet.
