Major Tom and the Deserters

About Me

A MAJ Tom original shot on the profile, from an imaginary movie. Do Angels truly look homeward? We are rather a motley crew. Listen to the music, and watch the video, and you'll get a sense of us. Friends get to see our collection of interesting and unique photos, bizarre blogs, and links to the very best of youtube. Even partake in MAJ Tom's Phantom Menace Radio Hour. It's not radio, time is relative, but it is phantom powered, in a sense. You get to choose what you want. But you have to work at it a bit. Check the blog, friends.Yours, MAJ Tom And here, perhaps proof that MAJ Tom and his trusted Band of Deserters are what they are. Kind of. Start video at 1:00 minute in for best effect. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWh6B6xFVDY Paul reaches for the butterfly, "All Quiet on the Western Front"

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: This is it!
Band Members: Major Tom, Bass and bad banjo. Some singing. But, our friend, Ghost, came through, playing beautiful slide guitar and harmonica, and giving life to a project we though beyond hope. In a very Swedenborgian way, this "Ghost" has helped the Deserters. Thank you!Comrade Ivanka, Colonel, NKVD, Keyboard.Yuki from Harajuku, Guitar.Boris B., Drums and percussion beer tray.Suki the psychic Akita. Our mascot and seer. Also does sound checks.
Influences: Phil Ochs, Memphis Minnie, Spinal Tap, The Rutles, The Beau Brummels, Cab Calloway, Dan Bern, Bascom Lamar Lunsford, Johnny Cash, Cindy Cashdollar, Harry Reser, Leadbelly, Marty Robbins, Johnny Thunders, Tommy Womack, Merle Travis, The Washington Squares, The Village Stompers, The Village People, The New Pornographers, and Cradle of Filth. And those Williams Boys still mean a lot to me--Hank and Tennessee, plus Jr., III, ... and Lucinda [can't mistake her for a boy, but she can cuss like a trucker sometimes].
Sounds Like: Like the fluttering of the wings of a 1000 Splendid Stinkbugs grooving to Hank Thompson. Or so we are told. But, from our perspective---We'll get back to you on that. Trust us. We're Deserters.
