About Me

The story of Rosewood Green begins in 2002 when Eugenie Rose Garrett and Pete Greenwood discovered a mutual admiration of artists like Nick Drake and John Martyn whilst studying at a north London music school. The pair began collaborating almost immediately and soon found themselves with an eclectic mix of self-penned gems. Having rehearsed together almost constantly throughout the year, the duo played a series of memorable gigs across London whilst perfecting new material at any given opportunity.Hailing from Bristol and Leeds respectively, Eugenie and Pete’s tastes differ outside of folk music. Eugenie’s love for Bob Marley, Sandy Denny, Vashti Bunyan and the avant-garde and Pete’s fascination with altered tunings, Blues, Jazz and Country, combine in strange and exciting new ways. With the inclusion of Oscar Cainer on backing vocals and guitar, Beni Pri on cello (whenever theyre both available), plus a whole host of guest musicians, their sound has taken on a new form. Ostensibly a folk record, their first E.P. “Slight Introvert” is a step away from the traditional in its use of slide guitar, lap steel, erratic time signatures and downright quirkiness, whilst vaguely trying to avoid the all-encompassing "nu-folk" banner. The overall sound is that of the folk genre conventions being twisted just a little bit further. Expect some new, stripped down recordings any month now. As soon as we can drag ourselves back into the studio. make
