About Me

Paddy Rock Radio started on June 1, 2000 as a means to promote great Irish music that was being heard in pubs, festivals, and other venues for years. John Bowles took it upon himself to help promote these bands after seeing a dramatic increase of requests for bands like The Tossers, The Pogues, Stiff Little Fingers, Black 47, Flogging Molly, and the most requested band at the time... the Dropkick Murphys on his show on the FM dial from years back. With a minimal collection of just 150 CDs on this genre when he started out... now his collection has grown to just over 3000 with all the great music that has been sent to him from artists known and unknown from all over the world. Month after month since, Paddy Rock Radio has taken off and become the most popular website covering this genre to the international community.
As a celebration of the success of Paddyrock.com with steady increases of fans clicking on over everyday, John decided to release "PRR Vol 1." the start of a volume set that helps promote these great Celtic Rock & Punk bands outside of the internet. Since it's release on June 1, 2005, Paddyrock.com has also done many sponsored shows throughout the nation (New York, Wisconsin, Indiana, Georgia, North Carolina, and Illinois).
On September 17, 2006, Paddy Rock Radio released it's second compilation CD with Vol. 2 and gained coverage in multiple regional and national publications and newspapers, and with 2007 DJ John B took some time off for a much needed break after 7 years of whiskey... running around... and failed relationships!
Now here in 2008..... located in the heart of the Windy City of Chicago, IL.... Paddy Rock Radio is back again after receiving over 1000 emails from bands, fans, and business from all around the world to bring back this great radio show... and now... we are ready to take Celtic Rock & Punk to the next level.
