Influences: The Pogues, The Dubliners, Flogging Molly, The Bushwackers, Mutiny, Weddings Parties Anything, DKM, shanties, OI!, bluegrass, Cajun, fighting, fornicating, Melbourne, fine imported tobacco, our mateys and the long oily rum-scented nights, wherever they may take us ...
Sounds Like:
A wayward crew of miscreants washed up on a coral reef, somewhere in the south seas, declaring the place "liberated in the name of Catgut Mary", celebrating with a particularly high-powered ceilidh by the light of a fire of bones, planks and coconut shells... Or like sex with a sea witch somewhere in the galley... Or like the Rum Runners’ Ball the night the colonial governor was ’Micky Finned’ and soundly thrashed about the buttocks with a dainty souvenir riding crop.
Sounds sorta Country, sorta Celtic, sorta Corsair, sorta Colonial, sorta Ceilidh, sorta Catchy ... and very, VERY Catgut!

Accidental AKAs;
(or typos we’ve seen)
"Cat Gut Mary" (common)
-simple and unimaginative typo, you can do better; 1/10
"Can’t Do Mary" (The Dan, 2007)
-interesting, only missing out on top marks because of the implication of celibacy; 8/10
"Cat Got Mary" (The Dan, 2008)
-nice surreal visual image here, we very much approve; 7/10
"Catgut Nary" (The Arthouse, 2007)
-poor effort, however a simple change in the word order would have doubled the score here; 4/10
