So, what is a Gobshite, anyway? According to Larry Kirwan, lead singer of the New York based Celtic Rock band Black 47 :"There's a subtle difference between an eejit and a gobshite. An eejit basically doesn't know his arse from his elbow. A gobshite is full of shit but he knows what's going on. He may even be intelligent. However, he is opinionated and a large sized pain in the arse, but he may get you drunk and fuck your girlfriend when you're taking a piss. That's the Gobshites for you! They're full of it, but make no mistake about it; they're going to make it. My concern is: when that great day comes, will they be fucking my girlfriend in the back of their limo?" The Gobshites can turn a traditional Irish standard into a rock & roll rave up. But turnabout being fair play, they will often transform punk rock songs like Black Flag's "Six Pack" or the Ramones "Long Way Back" into Irish Sing Alongs!BUY STUFF!
