Jabbers

The Jabbers are back... but without GG Allin

About Me

In 1977, GG Allin began recording with a band which would later become The Jabbers. The first two Jabbers singles (Beat, Beat, Bea..red to Death/One Man Army & Cheri Love Affair/1980s Rock N Roll) were recorded with GGs brother Merle on bass and various local guitarists. In 1979, GG put together a band to play live. Childhood GG Allin friend Alan Chapple was recruited to play bass, and Rob Basso joined as lead guitarist. Chris Lamy joined the band 6 months later, in 1980, as rhythm guitarist and in 1983, Mike ODonnell became The Jabbers final drummer and recorded with the ScumFucs.

During the years 1979 - 1984, The Jabbers played or recorded with Wayne Kramer (MC5), Dennis Thompson (MC5), David Peel (The Lower East Side), and Cheetah Chrome (The Dead Boys). The Jabbers released a full-length album in 1980: Always Was, Is, and Always Shall Be, which was followed by numerous EPs, 45s and compilation cuts. Rhino Records included You Hate Me & I Hate You on their Faster & Louder: Hardcore Punk compilation. The Jabbers shared disc space with The Germs, Fear, Husker Du, Agent Orange, X and The Wipers.

Live shows during the 1979 through 1984 period typically consisted of broken glass, blood, and topless female fans. The band played loud and fast and were banned from every punk club in the northeast. The Jabbers played their last show together in May of 1984 after which GG performed with the ScumFucs.

20 years later, The Jabbers have reunited to wreak their brand of Punk Rock and Roll havoc once more. Alan Chapple, Chris Lamy, and Mike ODonnell have been joined by new vocalist, Wimpy of The Queers and lead guitarist Harlan Miller, also who played with the Queers and more recently, the Tunnel Rats.
