Fervent have proven themselves as the masters of mood, with their freshly released debut EP “Between Usâ€. The songs have a unique tide of emotion that sweeps over you, rising and falling, generated by the building and releasing if tension. The music is evocative and the result of years of refining their sound and lineup.
The humble beginnings were in a small lounge room in Newtown with singer/songwtiter Clare Harris recruiting Cameron Jones (Lead Guitar) as a traveling companion on the musical journey. Initially without drums, Fervent took their music to venues in and around the city as an acoustic trio. But the bigger picture and the bigger sound required more. The answer came in the form of Drummer Ben Shaw. With the injection of more intensity and renewed sensibility to produce their distinctive dynamics, Fervent took to the stages across Sydney, including The Hopetoun, Bar Broadway, The Excelsior, The Cat and Fiddle among others.
In June 2005, they were selected to be part of the Grow your Own Vol. 10 Compilation (Foghorn Records) and followed up its subsequent release with show cases around the city. With a change in Bass player, Lenny Viall coming on board in late 2005-it was time to jam some new material. Five songs were selected and off to the studio they went. The result is their 5 track EP “Between Us†which was officially launched at the end of October 2006 to a full house at the Vic on the Park Hotel. At the beginning of 2007, with determination to get it heard, Fervent brought their songs and a whole lot more to audiences around Sydney and regional NSW.
In September 2007 Fervent announced their exciting new project The Fervent Summer Acoustic Sessions: Moody Rock In The Raw. Touring the east coast in Summer 2007/08, they will be showcasing tracks from the “Between Us†EP as well as new songs, in an acoustic format. Promising not to compromise that intencity that is Fervent, the acoustic sessions will be a unique opportunity to catch the essence of Fervent in an intimate setting.
