The band Sketching Cato started jamming in Maitland, NSW, August 2003.
Over the past 4 years, Sketching Cato have done some stuff. After creating a solid repertoire of Originals, the band made their debut taking home first prize in the Power FM Battle of the Bands competition, November 2005. Sketching Cato plays regular shows at the George Tavern, Grand Junction Hotel, Belmore Hotel and the Clubhouse Hotel Maitland, and have also appeared at the Bar on the Hill, Cambridge Hotel, The Sando in Newtown, The Exselsior Hotel Surrey Hills, The Lansdowne Hotel and various other venues.
Sketching Cato have recently released their first demo EP Something Real with songs addressing issues such as materialism, metaphors alluding to their home-town life, war and freedom, chances and hesitations, and running away for new life. The EP portrays an alternative, heavy pop-rock sound aimed at a diverse audience. Sketching Cato have a strong passion for live performance, and reaching the listener on a personal level.
