A musically dominated childhood, with a father who was in a highly successful Australian band, paved the way for her entry into the industry and founded her 15-years as an artist and Label/Marketing Manager both here and overseas. A professional jazz musician for nearly a decade, Serene knows first hand what it is needed to survive in this industry. Her musicality, coupled with her business acumen helped her foray into the corporate arena working as a Label Manager at Sony Music London as well as Marketing Manager for ABC Music Enterprises, and 2007 saw her touring with Muse for both their national and Big Day Out Tours.
With a reputation for being a straight shooter, Serene’s attitude and style resonates with artists and industry folk alike. In 2008 BBM signed Management deals with Maxine Kauter(myspace.com/maxinekautermusic)and The Live Room (myspace.com/theliveroom.
But the real driving force behind BBM is the understanding that bands no longer need to purely chase “record dealsâ€, but instead need to feel that “they are doing it independently but with solid advice behind themâ€, and with an emphasis on artists perceiving themselves as a business.
And this is where BBM excels. The company’s strengths lie in building solid relationships and providing constructive, honest feedback which has become BBMs trademark.
