Big Heavy Stuff is an inventive four-piece guitar band from Sydney, Australia.
Formed in 1990, Big Heavy Stuff has played hundreds of shows over the years with the likes of Powderfinger, Radiohead, Neil Finn, The Stone Roses, Dinosaur Jr, Jebediah, Something For Kate, Bluebottle Kiss and many, many more.
Dear Friends and Enemies, the band's 4th album, was released in 2004 on Redline Records, with the single "Mutiny" and radio hits "Homesick" and "Black Heart". Dear Friends and Enemies received 'Album of the Week' on Triple J.
Earlier albums include: Size of the Ocean (2000), featuring the singles "Devil's Tongue", "Two Sisters", "Laughing Boy" and "Hibernate". Size of the Ocean was nominated for 'Best Alternative Release' at the 15th Annual ARIA Awards.
Prior to that came Maximum Sincere (1997), which spawned the singles "Bigmouth", "May", "Cheating on a Dead Wife" and "Maximum Sincere"; and the first full album Truck (1993) featured the singles "Chaos" and "Skin a Cat".
There have also been a number of EPs: The band's debut release, Pops Like Crazy (1991, 6 tracks); Trouble and Desire (1994, 6 tracks) and Covered In Bruises (1995, 5 tracks) which included the hit "Birthday" (a song that was also released in the USA as a 7" vinyl single).
