A-Ski is one of the most eccentric and influental Dj's in the LA party scene. His style has been described as "refreshing and energetic" while his first class performances has earned him a loyal following and a reputation for being one of the most trusted tastemakers in the industry also earning him the tag "the people's dj" while following in the footsteps of legends such as FRANKIE CROCKER, GRANDMASTER FLASH, DR.DRE, DJ ALLADIN, JAZZY JEFF and LARRY LEVAN.Born and raised in Los Angeles , this self made/self taught Dj realized that his purpose is to not just to lead people to the dance floor, but rather lead people to each other…through music.A-Ski's career spans to the young age of 4. Where he would play various selections for family reunions and social functions. His reputation for rocking parties and mix tapes, goes back to his days as a teenager at Audubon Junior High School back in 1987. Playing pep rallies, talent shows and other youth oriented functions eventually earned him a spot on the "Mixmaster Show" as a guest Dj for the legendary LA radio station 1580 KDAY AM in the late 80's (under the direction of the legendary Dj Tee).In the early 90's, working as an intern at the progressive radio station KCRW FM and a full time student attending Santa Monica Community College; this English major's reputation followed him into the classroom. Being tapped to play various college parties, city/corporate functions, A-Ski eventually elevated to the Hollywood, Downtown LA club circuit.While A-Ski is on a mission to touch millions of people around the globe, in his eyes the best is yet to come. He has already found many of his experiences overwhelming, opening up for and collaborating with the likes of Seal, Pete Rock, Talib Kweli, KRS ONE, Slick Rick, Marley Marl, Dj Spinna, J Rawls, Dj Center, Kon and Amir, Dj Scribe, The 45 King, James Gadson, Wah Wah Watson, Derek Mckeith, Tiombe Lockhart, The Breakestra, RES, The Rebirth, Rich Medina, Vikter Duplaix, Donnie, Platinum Pied Pipers, NERD, Meshell NdegeOcello, Andy Vargas (lead singer of SANTANA), Black Eyed Peas, Jurassic-5 and Nikka Costa, just to name a few. He even had the blessing to have a 5 minute phone coversation on his 18th birthday with THE GODFATHER OF SOUL, MR. JAMES BROWN. In the winter of 2004, he found himself entertaining the guest of renowned photographer Michel Comte’s “Shared Water Foundation” that included film directors Brett Ratner (RUSH HOUR) and Robert Evans (THE GODFATHER). He described this accomplishment as simply, “this was an honor to play for so many people who have achieved so much and still care about giving back to others.”, he has also contributed his sound for other numerous charities. He has played before the likes of Prince,Tom Cruise, Will Smith, Keifer Sutherland,etc. He has played at many of LA and NYC's finest spots including Joe's Pub, Tripple Crown, Leopard Lounge, Casper Jones as well as the Sunset Room, The House of Blues (Sunset), Clear Bar, The Standard,The Roosevelt, The W, Nacional and Ivar just to name a few. He was also the founder/promoter of the legendary Thursday Nite party "LOVE is the message"; in addition he also breathed new life into another legendary party BOUNCE ROCK SKATE" in Los Angeles. Currently, he is the host and producer of "UNIQUE 74 SESSIONS"' for WHEATBREAD RADIO, he also hosted and produced the SCION powered WALK TALKIN' RADIO. His signature sound has also helped launch the success of LA venues such as Zanzibar, The Stock Exchange, Little Temple, The Room (Hollywood/Santa Monica),etc. In addition, magnify the branding image of corporate companies such as WHISKEY BLUE, WHEATBREAD, SCION, ADIDAS, NIKE, ESTEE' LAUDER, MAC COSMETICS, RALPH LAUREN, VODKA, MTV, HBO, TRUE RELIGION, BEAUTIFUL DECAY, JOINTZ MAG, URB, DIRTYMILK, just to name a few. A-Ski rocked his signature sound most recently at the 2008 Grammy Awards post party honoring four time Grammy winner Manny Marroquin (Usher, Alicia Keys, Rhianna, Kanye West,etc).With over 15 years under his belt, A-Ski has a magical way of creating an atmosphere while tapping into the pulse of emotion and depth in all of his sets. He doesn’t simply view deejaying as an opportunity to play good music and assist partygoers to enjoy a party, he view’s deejaying as a vehicle to change the world and one day fulfill his dream to lead people to realize that we are all “one” and can experience this journey of life together.
