About Me

Welcome to the official Bands for Darfur Myspace!
“Bands for Darfur” was set up to search for bands across the UK, to speak out against the crime on humanity in Darfur, and use our music to help bring peace back to their land.
“Bands for Darfur” has arranged for the proceeds from each gig to be donated to Fund4Darfur; an excellent new initiative launched by Aegis Trust with actress Mia Farrow on 2nd December 2007, to help Darfur women who have suffered sexual violence, to educate Darfur children, to help Darfur asylum seekers in the UK and help Aegis Trust’s UK campaigning work on the crisis.
I want use the energy of the music scene to help the people of Darfur, and to send a strong message across the UK that this crisis must end now. As one– we urge people to show their support.
Your support will make the difference.
Gigs will be designed to raise awareness and funding for more than 1.8 million people affected by the continuing crisis in Darfur, Sudan. The situation in the strife-torn region remains extremely volatile. More than 200,000 Sudanese have fled to neighbouring Chad and 1.6 million people, who have been displaced internally, are living in desperate conditions inside Darfur where there has been a complete breakdown in security.
Unique live gigs are allowing the UK's break through acts to perform in their own genre and style as well as performing with leading artists from the music industry for the victims of Sudan’s Darfur conflict.
More artists are pledging to take part in, or support, the event on a daily basis.
Making music & raising money for Darfur crisis.
Add us as a friend and leave us a message, we’re always happy to hear your thoughts and ideas.
"We together can make a change!..help us inform others about what is going on in darfur,by adding and promoting us."..

Luke is embarking on the challenge of creating a new live! music event called “Bands for Darfur”, from scratch for charity. See them battle to find a venue(s), find sponsorship, secure live acts; combining new artists with established acts – and everything in between.
We are looking for local bands across the UK, to take part in a LIVE music event to help raise money for Save Darfur Coalition.
Band banners can be added to our myspace music section, so what are you waiting for. Promote your music whilst raising money and saving lives for the better.
Spread the word of this fantastic cause! All in aid of the Chad & Darfur Emergency Appeal & an organisation called Fund4Darfur.
If you would like to be involved, please drop us a line.

LATEST NEWS

Friday 4th July 2008:
The latest news to be announced by 'Bands for Darfur' is that the non-profit organisation will be concentrating on working with 1 charity which is 'Fund4Darfur'.

CRISIS IN DARFUR

The crisis in Darfur presents the largest humanitarian disaster since the Rwanda genocide in 1994. Over 800,000 men, women, and children have been killed, and that number is only getting bigger. Every day the people of Darfur are systematically killed and raped for no apparent reason. The people of Darfur cannot turn to their own government as their government supports the groups committing these atrocities. Not only does the government support these groups, but they are supplying them with weapons and ammunition. The people of Darfur must turn to other aid, but as the west turns their back on these people, they are left alone to die.
Now, you can help with the aid of Darfur using your skills in the music industry. Fund raisers will be set up around the UK to help raise money for aid in Darfur. As one, all musicians will speak out against the crime on humanity in Darfur, and use our art to help bring peace back to their land.

FUND 4 DARFUR

OFFICIAL CHARITY:

www.fund4darfur.org
Fund4Darfur is a project of the Aegis Trust (UK Registered Charity No. 1082856). The Aegis Trust works to protect people who are at risk of genocide or mass atrocities and to support survivors who struggle to live after the killing ends. Survivors and their stories are at the heart of the organisation.
Aegis is based at the Holocaust Centre in the UK. It established and runs the Kigali Memorial Centre in Rwanda. Aegis does this to provide some dignity for the survivors and those who perished, but also so that lessons may be learned about the causes of genocide and how to prevent such atrocities occurring again.
