Boileroom Presents: Luke Pickett + Support
Despite his tender age Luke Pickett has perfected the art of solo performance through countless shows up and down the country. Living proof that you don’t need rows of Marshall stacks to create profoundly emotional charged music, his finely honed songwriting skills have established him as one of the UK’s most engaging underground acts. Following the success of his debut EP release, 'For Every Petal Lost...Another Gained,' and the follow up EP the ‘Blood Money EP' Luke is now in middle of recording his debut album to be released this autumn. His songs are heart wrenching stories outlined by divine melodies, intelligent and hooky guitar lines set in subtly epic productions with Luke Pickett’s unique soaring vocals and signature falsetto. This young man has a way of spinning a classic love tale into an über-romantic twisted musical sonnet. Luke Pickett is the troubadour sent back from the future to wake us up from the banality of shoe-gazing retro hippies.

Boileroom Presents: Belleruche, Megiddo, Chris Cape + Adam Form
Belleruche are perfectly described as handmade hip hop blues soul, like Sarah Vaughan, Django Reinhardt and Cut Chemist stuck in a lift with Russian beer and a sampler.
If you like Lamb and Portishead then Belleruche will be right up your street, it’s pure soulful Jazz with scratches aplenty. They are influenced by the likes of DJ Vadim to Nina Simone to Hendrix and the result is an album like a weird trawl through a dusty basement full of the best records you’ve never heard of, whilst a voice you can’t quite pin down sings hooks you can’t forget.

Boileroom Presents: Imperial Leisure + Guests
Imperial Leisure are a phenomenon: a ten-piece band playing their own particular blend of hip-hop, ska and rock music, complete with live brass section, keyboards, DJ, two MCs and a singer, who have been mates since North London secondary school, and in some cases, primary school. Their music is a killer combination of great beats, great tunes and irresistibly memorable lyrics. Influences come from all over the place: as well as a group admiration of great British bands such as The Specials, Madness and The Prodigy, there is a Motown-inspired soulfulness to singer Jel’s vocals, and a rock sensibility to MC Denis’s delivery.

Liberated Presents: Secondsmile + Support
Having recently released their sophomore album “Years†on Big Scary Monsters, Bridport quintet Secondsmile’s take on epic, Indie-infused Post-Hardcore demonstrates exactly why it is they’ve quietly inspired a legion of copyists. Helmed by Grammy-nominated producer-cum-genius Andrew Schneider (Cave In, Daughters, Pelican, Two Gallants, 5ive), ‘Years’ is the culmination of a lot of hard work. Secondsmile scrimped and saved to afford the trip to New York to record and the results are truly astounding. Featuring guest appearances from likes of Gerard Garone of NY post-punkers Radio 4 who added synths to the mix, label mate Dan Adams (This Town Needs Guns) adding trumpet and Oli Knowles (ex-Meet Me In St Louis) adding strings, ‘Years’ is a bold and beautiful record. Mastering duties were taken up by Greg Calbi at Sterling Sound; a man with a musical CV longer than most whose mastered records for such legendary acts as Ramones, Bowie, Sonic Youth, Springsteen and Mogwai to name just a few (and we mean just a few). Calbi has worked his magic bringing new vigour to Secondsmile’s musical output.

Crossroads Music Presents: Deadstring Brothers + Support
Not unlike Exile-era Stones, Deadstring Brothers deliver a menacing sound that draws equally on the melancholy of country ballads and the abandon of rock and blues. The bands music is deeply rooted in the storytelling and instrumental traditions of Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, and the American Outlaw Movement, but is also informed by the song structure and understated aggression commonly associated with Detroit bands. Their haunting melodies reveal the influence of early 70s rock icons like The Band and Gram Parsons and The Faces. Deadstring Brothers live performances have the energy of guitar rock, but sophisticated arrangements, Hammond Organ and a focus on traditional American music separate them from many of their Detroit contemporaries.
