WHO ARE WE?
We are on of the UK’s leading music schools with centres currently in Birmingham ,Exeter ,Southampton and Edinburgh. Here in Birmingham ,we offer a range of courses for musicians looking to stay in full-time education after their GCSE year. Our short courses and private tuition are available to all ages and all levels of practical experience.
WHAT DO WE DO?
We teach YOU a cutting edge course designed for the musical instrument of YOUR choice from the following list: GUITAR, BASS, DRUMS, VOCALS...You will be able to learn lots of practical and theoretical techniques in a room full of like minded musicians...We DO NOT dump you in a room full of random people trying to learn their seperate instruments...All our lessons are INSTRUMENT SPECIFIC (which means that you will be in a room full of students learning the same instrument!)...We are THE only college in the West Midlands that can give you this learning experience and also offer you a BTEC Level 2,3 & 4 Qualification at the end of it.....Our BTEC courses start at a Level 2(1st Diploma) and lead onto the BTEC Music Practice National Certificate level (equivalent to 2 A Levels) and on to Diploma level(equivalent to 3 A levels)...The BTEC Music Practice course is traditionally a PERFORMANCE course so you will also have plenty of opportunity to rehearse and play gigs while studying with us...The main point is that we will take you to a level way above the qualification you earn while with us....this is THE real deal in training!!!......We have an excellent record of finding full time employment for our students after completion of their chosen course whether as teachers, session players, studio technicians or band members....
HOW DO I ENROL ON A COURSE?
Before joining the Birmingham Academies musical instrument-based course, we ask you to take an Assessment Lesson. This is a great opportunity to work with a music tutor to help determine where you are in terms of your playing and performance ability and more importantly, where you want to be. We ask you to play a selection of technical exercises and to play/sing some of your favourite material. The tutor will be able to give you some tips on your technique and advise you of any areas that may need a bit of ‘brushing up’ to ensure that you get the best out of the course and you can cope with the areas of study.
