He had his first gig at the age of twelve and from there the musical journey began seeing him play with everything from Orchestras to Theatre productions, Jazz ensembles to Rock n' Roll bands. Joining motown legend Edwin Starrs band at the age of fifteen Ash experienced everything from Arena gigs to school assembly concerts at a very young age.Ash's CV currently holds an impressive list of experiences which all add up to making him the experienced professional musician he is today.Drum Kit set up includes - Modern / Vintage acoustic kits plus optional electronics.
( Set up varies according to situation)Percussion set up includes : 3 Congas, Bongos, Timbale, Cowbells, Bass drum, Snare, Cymbals, Chimes, Shakers, plus optional electronics, triggering devices and mics.
Ash also plays Trumpet and Flugelhorn as well as percussion on club shows.Ash's musical background has been quite diverse and varied ,including Latin percussion, Trumpet and Flugelhorn he also plays drum kit, Guitar, and Bass, all to a professional standard and has recorded and sessioned Live and in the studio playing all of the above instruments. Ash is certainly not a jack of all trades, even though he is skilled in these areas and can work as a multi instrumentalist , Ash considers himself to be a drummer, and this is where his specialist skills knowledge and passion lie, in the art of drumming, all be it educating or performing.As well as working as a professional drummer/ percussionist , Ash currently runs his own drum school (The Pro-drum Academy) based in Birmingham at Sound control , and also has teaching studios in Walsall and Coventry.
Pro-drum is currently endorsed by Yamaha, Zildjian, Roland, and Evans Drumheads.Ash has worked in many different situations with varying artistes , performers, and DJ ‘s, His experiences include a number of international tours, TV, Video and Radio appearances plus countless studio sessions.Here are a few personal highlights to date.Tour with Edwin Starr (UK) (motown)
