About Us

ILLUSION and ILLUSION EVENTS have been creating parties for the past 3 years now.When founder members...LEE THACKER,CRAIG GUTTERIDGE,DEREK PARGETER AND JERRARD RIX decided there was no longer anywhere for them to have a good night out, where the music and the atmosphere went hand in hand,it was decided that they would have to do something about it.

It all began in the back room of a pub(the summerhouse) in there hometown of KINGSWINFORD. They regularly found themselves with 150 people at these events, with more interest growing as they continued.It got to the stage where they grew out of the summerhouse and decided to try there luck at a bigger venue in time for the summer.so was born SUMMER GATHERING at THE SWANCOTE (large country residence with large outdoor swimming pool) there first of what is now a regular event and growing every year.that first SUMMER GATHERING featured only illusions own djs but still pulled in a crowd of in excess of 500 people. They then realised that there were also a lot of like minded people out there who were looking for the same thing as they were.....GREAT MUSIC....GREAT PEOPLE....GREAT ATMOSPHERE....which then creates a GREAT PARTY.They didnt care what people wore,what people looked like,where people came from, as long as they caused no trouble and they enjoyed themselves.

It was at this time that Jerrard decided to leave the set up of ILLUSION.So Lee,Craig and Derek now with the bit between there teeth carried on. They knew they could make a difference.so they continued with there parties.again at the swancote for a CHILLUSION winter night out....,followed by some smaller all-night partys in an indoor football pavillion called SIXES.

A few nights were put on for other promoters like funkshun and bar south.all these were leading up to there second SUMMER GATHERING. SUMMER GATHERING part 2 really got the people talking.they brought in the world renowned JEREMY HEALY who ended up playing a three and half hour set and rocked the place.... the happy mondays (tribute) THE MONDAYS,and 17 other djs played in a marquee and two other rooms.they also had camping for the first time.The crowd this time was around the 1200 mark which was a remarkable success considering the weather wasnt at its best for them.

So as 2006 came to an end they had one more night to give to there increasing following...the ILLUSION ALLNIGHTER at THE SHED.this venue had never been used for a proper party,and certainly never for an allnighter.it was a venue for bands,until ILLUSION took it over and brought in the famous HACIENDA legend GRAEME PARK who playing a hacienda set had the crowd totally in awe. Joined by the early 90s birmingham dj PATRICK SMOOVE it was definately a night to remember.this pulled in a full house crowd of 550.

So as 2006 ended in great success for the ILLUSION lads and there following, they moved on to a new year. 2007 brought ILLUSION'S first party to be held in a hotel.HAVING IT IN THE BALLROOM was the event,24th march was the date,and the venue was the TALBOT HOTEL,STOURBRIDGE.With there own dj's taking the stage for this one the place rocked and a great night was had by all. So,the next event was the big one.They had never done anything on this scale before,but SUMMER GATHERING 2007 was without doubt the best party to hit the midlands in many,many years.With a 2 day music licence,4am drinks licence and free camping this was a first for the area. The line up was massive.Over 2 days,the likes of GRAEME PARK,JOHN KELLY,K KLASS,PATRICK SMOOVE,ALLGOOD&BIGLOVE,LEE PERRY sent the place and the crowd into raptures.But the defining moments of the weekend were 2 new adventures for the ILLUSION BOYS. On the saturday ECKO RECORDS took on BED for a 12 hour marathon of bassline house.DAVEY BOY,NICKY G and JOE HUNT are just 3 of the 20 dj's that were joined by JENNIFER JONES,KATIE MAY and KYMBERLEY MYLES for live pa performances.This arena was absolutely slammin from the start till the very end. The highlight of the weekend though,had to be the legendary BEARDYMAN.This really was a sight to behold.For close on one and half hours this guy had the whole crowd in a trance.People could not believe what they were seeing and hearing.I wish i was able to say more,but you just had to be there.He is without doubt the most entertaining artist i have ever had the pleasure of witnessing,and im sure if you ever meet anyone who has seen him then they will say the same.EVERYONE SHOULD EXPERIENCE BEARDYMAN ONCE IN THERE LIFE.Check out the video footage on this site. WHAT A PARTY MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.Over the 2 days of SUMMER GATHERING 2007 close to 2500 people came to party.They all created a brilliant atmosphere for all who came and went away wanting MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! br / ............................................................ ............................................................ ................
