Ecko............. Record label, Promotional Events, Tours, Recording Studio & Distribution
Ecko originally started as a promotional company way back in 1996 as a small project that started life in The ‘Steering Wheel’ – Monthly Wednesday’s called ‘Freedom’ (Not be confused with the later Saturday night promotion ‘Ultimate Freedom’ ) - This promotion was the start of all things good to come. Later promotions included events at such places as: Marco Polo Bar, Club Platinum & Subway City to name but a few.
But it wasn’t until Davey met Nicky on Silk City (2002) that got things really moving. They started playing out in clubs and bars together and soon formed a great partnership. It was only around 6 months into this partnership when Ecko got offered the ‘Moon Lounge’ for a weekend promotion because at the time it was a new venue and no-one knew about it. This is when Davey and Nicky made an agreement to push Ecko to the top of the Bassline scene not only through the weekend promotion but by means of a record label.The 1st release ‘Hillbillie Trax VOl 1’ contained tracks from 2 different artists :- Dj Figgy & Davey Boy. Dj figgy came with his own bassline style with ‘Love don’t live’, while Davey released a more commercially sounding organ/piano track ‘What do you want?’. Both tracks were cained in and around Birmingham and smashed the northern scene as well.
After the 1st release the 2 Dj’s signed a new duo by the name of ‘G N G’ – and along with them came 1 of the biggest Bassline tracks ever to come out of Brum…. LIMB BY BASS….. This really put the label on the map and the following releases just pushed it higher and higher with each release, more artists were signed and sister labels have been brought out in the names of ‘Low Frequency, Disco Basslines, All Stars & Ruff Kuttz'
At the 2004 Silk City awards, Ecko were voted 'best record label' & also won 'Best Club Night' by the people who matter most... The listeners.
Interest grew in the not only the Label but also the musical side of things that Ecko were pushing, more artists came onboard and more massive hits came from the Ecko factory - Andy M - What a Night - Craig Graham - Helicopter, Kym Myles - Give It To me, Dj Sparks - Topkat, all these and many many more!!!
2007 saw a massive change for Bassline House & Ecko on a whole after the building of Katie May & her first single ''You're The Only 1''. The track was snapped up for licensing by All Around The World Records (and chased by others) as did Kymberley Myles's first Ecko release ''Give it To Me''. Further tracks have been signed upto Ministry Of Sound in the form of vocalist Damae from Fragma, Jenny Evitts & Collette Jay.Ecko kept best Record Label title in 2005 & 2006 and also walked away with Best club night for S.P.A.C.E @ Moon Lounge (2005) and Best Club Night For 'Plush' @ Moon Lounge (2006) and Davey won the coverted DJs DJ award in 2005
2006 & 2007 saw Ecko travel to Ibiza on 4 seperate occasions to play in 1 of the 7 superclubs on the island - Club EDEN, also Costa Del Sol, Magaluf, USA and Poland have also featured in the list of places added to the ever growing Ecko tours.Now with many tracks signed upto major labels like Ministry Of Sound & All Around The World, Ecko are fully rolling and looking forward to what 2008 might bring!!CHECK OUT THE BRAND NEW ECKO ONLINE SHOP FOR ALL NEW ECKO VINYL RELEASES & CD PACKS!!!
