Tom Short aka Shorterz, born 1985, lives and works in Birmingham U.K.
After his hard working days at school (not) he entered the big wide world with one goal the love of Music
At the age of 13 loved the Happy Hardcore sound yes, thats right Chimp Munks singing over super fast BPM, pianos with that bang bang to drive you mental, This phase quickly died out and the UK Garage Scène is where it all started, A fresh new sound took the nation by storm and this is really where it all began, Having his older brothers decks at home a few dogey vinyls and away he went..... if only it was that simple.
Not knowing where to start putting beats and bars together took the so called easy option and started doing a bit of the old MC'ing with friends, This then progressed and Sum how managed to get the odd booking at the under 18 events along side many big names at the time (Jedi etc), As time passed started to realise that this wasnt for him at the age of 18 entered the world of Speed garage.
2003 that Speed Garage scène what lasted a whole of 5 minutes in 1998 started coming back with a Bang, this was a real eye opener and then really started making an effort with DJ'ing getting all the latest vinyls but at the same time went back in time and took off a love for 90s organ house, piano anthems and all time classics, Here it really started this was where his DJ'ing really started off after many attempts in local DJ comps and house parties he finally progressed onto the next stage.
Tom got a booking at a new night in Birmingham space @ Moonlounge here started playing on a regular basis along side fellow friends Davey Boy & Nicky G, here some say this was where he was noticed the bookings came flying in Bounce @ Radius, Funky Fridays, Bassline Heaven and many many more Also gained a regular slot on Birminghams underground station Silk FM where he still plays every now and then after this he entered the world of producing.
His first production was on low Frequency records, then had later hits on ECKO records, Hip Hopping, Do you Feel me, Ladies with an attitude just to name a few , Ecko helped him get noticed as a respectable producer as well as a DJ and later Toured the UK up north around Leeds and Lingards @ Bradford.
After 2 strong years on the Bassline house scene he started pushing his Funky house / Electro name 'Tom Short' where he has regular sets at G2 Bar, Afters @ Subway , Bano @ Hidden plus many many more, This year he is playing in Costa Del Sol part of a clubbing weekender which has had a massive response.
Toms latest productions have been a remix for Restless & Volatile who have had a smash hit with Hed Kandi, The Tom Short electro mix of 'When im with you'.Another production he has made along side Funkagenda a remix of a Black Box classic whats been revamped Touch me.
