Use your voice to help STOP child abuse

WHY WAS THIS PAGE CREATED?It is very nice to "meet" all of you! I have just created this profile in hopes of working with the many others that are already here working to put a stop to child abuse. I have 2 children and a stepson that I love with all my heart and soul. I am happily married and love my family very much. The Lord has truly blessed us! This leads me to my reason for developing this page actually. My husband and I have battled for 7 years and counting to get my stepson out of an abusive and unstable environment. We share custody of him and have him the normal Wednesdays and every other weekend. CPS has been involved since 2002. Teachers, counselors, friends, family and us as well have reported the abuse and neglect. Currently, two cases are listed as "Reason to believe physical abuse" and "Reason to believe Münchhausen by proxy syndrome." My stepson has been removed twice so far...once at 3 years old after his step dad left bruises on him. The other time was for 6 months after a psychologist evaluated the mother and recommended that he be immediately removed and only in contact with his mother under supervision by CPS. That was when we got him for 6 months. He made so much progress and was finally happy. It was a blessing for us all. His attorney ad litem and another caseworker recommended that he continue to stay with us and not be returned to his mother...however the attorney for CPS for some curious reason just decided, despite the history and the recommendations of caseworkers, the case be dropped and he be returned back to the place he'd been saved from. In normal cases here in Texas, there is a hearing after 14 days of removal and then more hearings every so many months. Well, my stepson's case never once got a single day in court...the attorney for CPS as well as the caseworker said that they just weren't ready for court yet, didn't have all the info together yet. Despite our frustrations though, things were going so wonderful and my stepson had many friends, loved his school and sports and church and was absolutely thankful to be with us every single day, safe and happy. Then all of the sudden after the 6 months CPS calls and says his mom is coming for him that day. That was it, case closed....and only hours to prepare ourselves and him for what was going to happen. It was a horrible day for us and for him. He went crying hysterically. Our family was devastated and worried sick. He is once again very unhappy, doing bad in school, having behavior problems, loosing weight, being treated badly and going through a lot. He asks to live here or to at least call us...but to no avail, he is not allowed...between our visits we have no clue if he is ok or not. He's told not to tell CPS or us what goes on at their home and there is big trouble when he does. My two kids are completely upset and don't understand why their brother had to go back. At this point we are a year in the works of suing for custody. God willing, it will go the way it should and he will be out of that environment. He asks us every time we see him to "Get me out of here." And buddy we are trying. We just pray that things go the way they should and would appreciate all the thoughts and prayers we can get!..
