JADE - Honorable Mention, The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror, 2006

About Me

I'm a registered pharmacist by day, and a horror writer by night. (Now there's a combination you don't see every day.) ~~~ My publishing credits: “Wet Work” took First Place in the Desdmona.com 2006 Hard-Boiled Sex Contest. Read it for FREE at www.Desdmona.com! ~~~ "Behind the Veil of an Odalisque," "Jade" and "Cruel Destiny" all appear in the collection THICKER THAN WATER by Tigress Press. ("Jade" received an Honorable Mention in The Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror, 2006, 19th Annual Collection edited by Ellen Datlow and Kelly Link & Gavin J. Grant.) Signed copies of this exciting book can be purchased through Shocklines. ~~~ "Tasty Goth Chicks" appeared in OPEN GRAVES: An Anthology From the Midwestern Writers of Horror. It's available at Shocklines, too. ~~~ And for fun, check out the OminousLanding.com web site, which features my continuing serial story "The Lamp," plus the work of other up-and-coming writers from the Midwest.

My Interests

I write horror fiction, mostly about werewolves and vampires. My other passion is blues guitar. On the Crossroads blues forum I'm known as Bluespower58.

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet God, but I'm in no particular hurry.

Music:

Stevie Ray Vaughan, Tommy Castro, Jimmy Thackery, Coco Montoya, Eric Clapton, the three Kings of the Blues -- that's Freddie, Albert and B.B. King, for those of you who are "blues challenged" -- Johnny "Clyde" Copeland, Albert Collins, Eugene "Hideaway" Bridges, Debbie Davies, Tab Benoit, Luther Allison...and many, many more.

Movies:

Underworld, Underworld Evolution, Predator, Alien, Aliens, most of the James Bond pictures, Van Helsing, LeMans (with Steve McQueen and the awesome Porsche 917), The Battle of Britain (Spitfires!), Sin City...um...I'm sure there are others...

Television:

I am SOOOO backed up on tapes to watch, I don't think I'll ever get caught up. See, I've been too busy watching baseball...since the Cards went all the way to the World Series and WON! That's right, sports fans: THE CARDINALS ARE WORLD CHAMPS!!! Congratulations to the Redbirds. WTG, guys!

Books:

I loved all of the early Anita Blake books by Laurel K. Hamilton. Unfortunately, the series went porno sometime after Blue Moon. Now I'm into Slade, Nancy Kilpatrick, Karen E. Taylor... I loved the Sonja Blue books, the Silver Wolf trilogy by Alice Borchardt (she is Ann Rice's sister, btw), and Chelsea Quinn Yarbro. I also liked Mick Farren's vampire series, and occasionally I sneak in a supernatural romance if it's got either vampires or werewolves. Heck, I'll admit it -- if it has fangs, fur and/or claws, I'll try it.

Heroes:

First and foremost, my parents and my wife. After them, anyone who takes the time to read one of my stories.
