About Me

Who are Artemas Cabin Songsmiths you ask? Actually does anyone really care? I guess we'll soon find out. We are Biff Rendar & Chris Patterson. The songs you hear here are performed by Chris and written by the both of us. Chris and I became email friends after I purchased something from him on Ebay about 4 years ago...ah the internet. Now we are songwriting partners. Chris is the frontman for the D.C. based alt/country band Leaving,TX www.myspace.com/leavingtx. Chris ran some tunes by me for my opinion on the first Leaving,Tx cd "A Hundred Miles to Sunday". I figured if he valued my opinion that much I'd show him some stuff I'd written. I had never shown anyone anything I'd written.... ever. He shocked me when he told me he liked it. The latest Leaving,TX cd "Anywhere on Good Roads" we co-wrote 3 songs for the cd and the band used my photography for the cover. The songs you'll find posted here are quite different from the Leaving,TX stuff. Leaving, TX is often described as a twang-rock band they're a little harder edged than your average country band....thank whomever you worship for that. The songs you'll find posted here are more the acoustic type. Songs that maybe wouldn't fit into a Leaving,TX setlist. Well enough background info. you probably stopped reading and started looking for porn a long time ago any way. If you feel that you would like to make us famous please feel free to contact us.We hope you enjoy our songs and visit often. Story behind "Everybody"

I thought I'd kind of give the story behind the songs we have posted here. This song came out of watching a debate on CNN between the guy that is the head of the Catholic coalition of something or oth...

The Things that Broke His Heart

Chris and I wrote this one at the Artemas cabin, well we finished it there any way. It's kind of self explanatory, a guy falls on tough times and isn't sure what means more to him. Is it his bott...
