PEGASUS BIO:
All the way from Scotland, this unsigned rock band called Pegasus features twin lead guitar players, full backing vocals by its four members and writes 100% of their own material.
Pegasus was founded in 1984 in Glenrothes, Fife (Scotland) by two of the current Line up members, McDave and Sandman . They were mainly influenced by Iron Maiden and Thin Lizzy type guitar bands. Although current Bass Player, Frank , was not an actual member of the band, he was a roadie of the original line-up. The Band split in 1986 to reform again with a new revamped line up in 1989. This is when Ross and Frank took over. The reformation of the band brought in newer and more progressive rock based on a mix of Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard and Bon Jovi . Main songwriter is McDave McFurry. This will be the first time our music has been released into the public Domain with the exception of playing live of course, all over Scotland and different places in the UK.
In 1991, they recorded their first demo in a studio called Sound Cafe in Penicuik, Scotland. And then were "born" the 6 first tracks that makes up in part Pegasus' first album which are:
In between, the members of the band took a rest to concentrate on family life but remained best friends and were occasionnally jamming together and writing tunes although the band was not active on the live front.
However, they had other unrecorded songs that were performed live. These are the songs which were much later included to the album in order to finalize The First Cut CD which were recorded in 2007 at Pegasus Sound Studio in Kirkcaldy.
The Idea of recording these last tracks emerged in 2006 after posting videos clips of some of the earlier Pegasus material made from old VHS footage. These videos were received successfully on Youtube with some of the tracks generating as many 50'000 hits. Because of this the band considered finishing The First Cut album and perhaps looking towards touring again.
In August 2007, the band began to record again, starting with a few covers from their favourite bands and influences from over the years recording numbers such as " UFO - Doctor, Doctor", "Iron Maiden - Transylvania" (a song that the band has performed many times in their Live Set) and " The Eagles - Desperado" . As the band was recording them, the tunes were posted on their MySpace page and they generated so much interest and positive feedback from many different people all over the world who were unanimous that Classic 80's type rock was really missing in today's music scene. This is one of the key factors which inspired the band to resume what they left off. The long-awaited final songs for The First Cut album were then recorded and released as the band's debut CD.
A lot of people have asked why the band were never signed. The simple answer was that they never tried to approach any record companies as their main interest was to make music for their own enjoyment.
The Band are currently in the studio recording new material for a possible second album and now hope to be signed in the future so that they may be able to tour once again.
