About Me

I am a musician and a self-taught artist..... I love working with found images and happened-upon ideas. My music life feeds my artwork and my work with collage informs my music... synergy... symbiosis... synchronistic signage being the preferred order of the day.
You may ask... where do I find images and ideas? Everywhere and anywhere… Being a student of the art of “debris divination”... I look for signs in the run-over kid’s artwork or homework found in the street… in the particular beat-to-hell playing cards lying strewn on the sidewalk… in the book that jumps off the shelf at the bookstore… in the rhythm of a chance conversation overheard in a coffeehouse or gas station.
Why collage? Because our culture and world is fragmented and fractured. Taking pieces of paper from the past, ideas from the future, I mix up time and alchemize the bits and pieces. Something new emerges from these juxtapositions which does not always show itself immediately. I discover new things in these meldings as time passes. I hope you will too as some of the most satisfying accidents were mistakes and some of the best wholes used to be in pieces.
To access The Gallery, click on View My Pics. The Gallery contains 4 sections:
1 ~ “Visions from the End-Time Journals” is one of 2 traveling shows which started life in a 9x12 spiral binder. Just after the beginning of the new millennium I began to record a visual language on a weekly basis which came to me via dreams & impressions. These spoke of earthquakes, riots, music, stones, peaceful lakes and planetary physics. Framed for sale are the more universal pieces. The more personal ones remain in the journal.
2 ~ "Digital Collage" is the newer stuff.... finally learning a bit about photoshop & having a blast with that. Most of the images contain digital photographs of actual objects. For example, "Dress of Laces" is a collage of candles on a crocheted tablecloth, my own garments & a rose image I lifted from the internet. "Aberdeen Postcard" started with a scan of an old postcard of a moose from my extensive postcard collection. On top of that is a cropped photograph of the post office in Aberdeen, Washington (birthplace of Kurt Cobain). You catch the drift....
3 ~ Photography Section: just random stuff...
4 ~ Altered Photos: self-explanatory...
