It all began twelve years ago back in 1986. When KTMA-23, a local UHF station in Minneapolis, needed 2 hours to fill, they went to Jim Mallon, a talented producer in comedy. After long consideration, he hired Kevin Murphy two years later as a writer and as a producer. Not long after that, Mallon met Joel Hodgson, and a new show was born. Trace Bealieu also joined up at around the same time.Shortly after it appeared on KTMA, it went on hiatus for the summer. At the end of that summer, in early 1989, MST3K premiered on Comedy Central. It had the real Tom Servo (Kevin Murphy) came into play. Also, the show went cable, and Gypsy emerged from the metallic parts into a purple color.Season KTMA was almost forgotten as Season One began. Shortly into the season, Dr. Erhardt was pronounced "missing," by TV's Frank (Frank Conniff), who became the new assistant for Deep 13.In 1990, Mike Nelson joined as the new head writer for the series. Bridget Jones, his wife, also was hired for the same job. Just before season three premeired in '91, Nelson hired Paul Chaplin as an addition to the staff. In 1992, Mary Jo Pehl became yet another writer for the show. But around 1993, Joel Hodgson began to feel unsatisfied with his work. In the middle of season five, he decided to leave the show. The mads of Deep 13 hired Mike Nelson (Mike Nelson), who began a series of temp jobs starting in 1985 with working at a cheese factory. Gypsy overheard the mads' plans to fire Mike, so she and Mike got Joel off the Sattelite of Love using Deus Ex Machina, an escape pod. The mads needed a new test case, so they sent Mike up into space as their replacement. As Joel left, Nelson took over as the main actor. Many fans would then notice a change over the style of the show, but it still remained with that bit of its old comedy. As they still had to watch cheesy movies, TV's Frank was killed by Torgo the White. So Dr. Forester's mother, Pearl Forester (Mary Jo Pehl) moved in to help him "ease the pain of loss." But later, the funding for the project was cut, proving that it had become insuccessful. Dr. Forester released the umbilicus that kept the Sattelite of Love in orbit, and it shot off into the ends of the universe, and prepared to leave with his mom. He tried at one last unsuccessful attempt with "This Island Earth," but he still failed. Mike and the bots tuned into beings of pure energy and went off to play. Meanwhile, back on Deep 13, Pearl turned Clayton into a baby again and started over, trying to raise him right this time. But he started conducting the experiments again, so she suffocated him with a pillow. Pearl had her body frozen until she was thawed out 500 years later by apes, who had evolved from humans. She became the "Lawgiver," and several years later, the S.O.L. crew returned, except for Crow, who had already been on the spaceship for 500 years and changed quite a bit.Pearl continued to do the experiments, in Dr. Forester's legacy. A race came over with their holy nuclear bomb, and Mike helped them fix it, which made it blow up. Pearl got off Earth in time before it blew up, and the Sattelite managed to get out of orbit and was saved. Later, we found out that Bobo had stowed away on the 1967 Volkswagen spaceship. Then they found a planet of Brains, and Observer or "Brain Guy" (Bill Corbett) joined Pearl and Bobo. The VW and the S.O.L. were both pulled through a wormhole until the S.O.L. began orbiting the Earth. The Volkswagen crashed on the front porch of Castle Forester, where Pearl's ancestors have lived. Ever since then, things have never been the same.
