About Me

What can I say - just your average, run of the mill bird, looking for ways to make everyday interesting, meet new people and learn something new.
I'm a great believer in karma, and what comes around goes around. Not that I believe in heaven or hell, but I don't want to wait for my actions or deeds to register after my death, I want them to impact on my life.
Love my tattoos, been inked 3 times now (with one cover-up so really only got two!) and can't wait to go back for more. It pisses me off that everyone has one these days. For me, a tattoo is something really personal, a piece of art I like to carry round with me. I've learned to think long and hard before deciding on a design, after one cover-up I don't want to go down that road again.
I live in a genuine haunted house. We moved here about 4 years ago - at first we didn't believe the neighbours stories, but we soon changed our minds! A regular occurance is the sound of children running and laughing up and down the hall. It doesn't feel bad, and the fact that our two cats seem to put up with them, means it doesn't bother us too much. Despite having seen what I've seen and heard what I've heard, I still wouldn't put me down as a true believer, if anything, they feel like part of the furniture.

My Interests

Gigs - best one recently has got to be Queens of the Stone Age at Carling Academy in Glasgow. Most fun was Tenacious D.
Festivals - love going to Glastonbury. Haven't been in a few years but would like to go again sometime soon. The atmosphere is fan-bloody-tastic.
Cinema - especially in the afternoon when it's quiet. Must admit I'm a bit of a cinema-dictator - it really winds me up when people talk/kick my seat/play with their phones during the film.
Tattoos - love getting tattoos! It's hard to explain, but it's like a rite of passage.
Shoe shopping - this is me making up for my student days when all I wore was doc martens!

I'd like to meet:

Music:

Want to say anything that rocks, but that just sounds wanky. Absolutely in love with the following bands;
Queens of the Stone Age,
Eagles of Death Metal,
Portishead,
Cardigans,
Radiohead,
The Cure,
Nirvana,
Foo Fighters
Old favourites are Led Zeppelin, and Bowies old stuff. Always had a soft spot for Nina Simone and Frank Sinatra.

Check out my playlist above for an idea of what I like!!
Favourite album that always gets me out of a blue funk - Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails

Movies:

Love old stuff/new stuff/chick flicks/horror movies/world cinema/anime/comedies - there's not much I won't watch.
Some of my favourite films are;
Oldboy,
Leon,
12 Angry Men,
Breakfast at Tiffanys,
Run Lola Run,
A Matter of Life and Death,
Shaun of the Dead,
Secretary,
Spirited Away,
The Colour Purple,
Star Wars (but only Ep IV, V & VI, couldn't get into the new ones)
anything by Wes Anderson,
anything by Guillermo del Toro,
anything by Luc Beeson

Recently saw Stranger Than Fiction, would definately recommend.

Television:

Here goes with a list, it won't be that long as TV is more often crap than not;
Dextor
Six Feet Under,
Family Guy,
American Dad,
Robot Chicken,
Top Gear
League of Gentlemen
IT Crowd,
Sex and the City,
24,
Black Books,
Red Dwarf,
Afro Samurai
Futurama,

........bring back Firefly!!!!!

Books:

I love to read - I'm one of those people that can read the same book over and over and over.......
Especially love the books of Louis de Bernières, Neil Gaimen, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Sergei Lukyanenko and Douglas Adams.
Some favourite books are;
The War of Don Emmanuel's Nether Parts,
Senor Vivo and the Coca Lord,
The Troublesome Offspring of Cardinal Guzman,
....the above three part of a set by Louis de Bernières,
Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett,
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley,
Faerie Tale by Raymond E. Feist,
Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez,
Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk,
LA Confidential by James Ellroy,
I'm of the opinion that the book is always better than the film - been disappointed so many times. Captain Corellis Mandolin was a fantastic book, but the film totally ruined it's rep by just concentrating on the love story, there was so much more to it.
Some films do come close, however, like;
The Green Mile by Stephen King,
The Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King,
Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien,
Dune by Frank Herbert
Really looking forward to seeing the film of the book 'Love in the Time of Cholera'!!

Heroes:

Anyone who makes a stand.
