Shortly after Welbilt formed, Washington DC radio station DC101 singled them out as the most promising independent band in the region based on the strength of their energetic live performances and masterful songwriting capabilities. All this a mere three months after their first show together.
Since those remarkable beginnings there have been a string of high-profile gigs, national awards, and an ongoing contract with Anheuser-Busch as the DC representative of the Budweiser True Music Live Program.
In the midst of this busy schedule they found the time to arrange recording sessions in Los Angeles with platinum selling producer Andrew “Mudrock†Murdock (Godsmack, Avenged Sevenfold). The resulting full-length recording has sold over 8,000 copies on the East Coast and has received rave reviews from critics. “Impressive songwriting….convincing vocals…..sonically vibrant,†says the Washington Post.
After adding TV shows, movie soundtracks, and video games to its resume; Welbilt added a feature in Blender Magazine and hundreds of spins on clear channel’s DC101. “What do you call the band that has it all? Killer hooks, killer music, and soaring vocals equal GREAT rock radio songs. Welbilt is the bees knees!!†says DC101’s music director, Greg Roche.
The momentum from this early success landed Welbilt with 3 regional booking agencies that have the guys touring clubs and colleges all along the East Coast and into the Midwest. After months of touring and new life experiences, Welbilt found themselves back in the studio to record new material with platinum-selling producer, Scott Spelbring (SR-71, Cinder Road).
Welbilt’s newly released EP, “Due To The Current State of Things†is the perfect preamble to the next full-length recording, and a glimpse of what’s to come for this up and coming band. The EP was released to over 1,000 fans and has currently sold over 4,000 copies.
The guys are currently working on new material and touring in support of current and future endeavors. Current information can be found on www.myspace.com/welbilt or the newly released www.welbiltmusic.com
