Odelya Dahan & The Yellow Submarine Ensemble

About Me

Odelya Dahan and the the Yellow Submarine Ensemble had joined together in a new and unique project: imaginative jazz arrangements of traditional ladino songs. These arrangements, made by composer and pianist Ittai Rosenbaum, are actually independent compositions. They incorporate within themselves the simple and graceful ladino songs. The pieces derive their influence from a variety of musical roots: the ladino tradition from around the Mediterranean sea, 20th century classical music such as Bartok and Stravinsky, Spanish and Latin music and of course, jazz. As all the ensemble previous work, the compositions' structures are more complex than the standard jazz tune. The eight compositions are colorful fantasies, adding further layers of meaning, sometime even surreal.
