I want to dance.... my heart.. out

About Me

I am a multi-faceted guy. I can be outspoken and goofy as well as quiet and contemplative. I talk way too much but I am a good listener as well. I prefer to really get to the heart of matters in conversation- as in, my response to "how ya doin?" is actually how I am doing and what is going on, rather than the standard "good".
Music is at the heart of my existence- yeah I love techno, but I listen to a lot of other music like jazz and some hip hop, rock, blues, funk, reggae, chill out, etc...
I played alto sax in an experimental noise band called noface. Now I play alongside Oliver as one half of kikuchiyo. I mix techno records from minimal jackin to the beatin trax, undulating melodies, and whatever moves me to dance behind the mixer. Currently I am promoting a club night in Minneapolis called Convergence (the last Friday of every month at the Dinkytowner) which features minimal, techno, house, experimental, eclectic chill music, and ...art! It's a labor of love... You can also catch me playing ambient, lounge, world music, downtempo, minimal, and house at TEMPLE Restaurant and Lounge at 12th and Harmon in downtown Minneapolis every Tuesday.
I also like to walk around unexplored and familiar places, ponder the profound and the mundane, draw, do graphic design, read books, magazines, and newspapers, learn about other cultures, and dance my ass off until I fall over.I was born in Manitowoc, WI, then lived in Franklin, TN (near Nashville) for 8 years (In those 8 years, no elements of southern culture rubbed off on me, thank goodness! ;-) before moving to Glen Ellyn, a suburb of Chicago. Now I find myself in MPLS, and I love it up here. I spent 7 months living in Madrid, Spain and traveling Europe. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and it definitely gave me a more worldly perspective. My Spanish improved too, but now I use all Castillian slang that nobody here uses...

Keith Olbermann tells the truth:

My Interests

techno, art, jazz, design, travel, dancing, esthetics, global cultures, history, anthropology, talk- from chit chat to philosophical discussions, laughing until it hurts, science, literature, bad puns, honesty, ethnic food, theater, late nights, making words rhyme, exploring old buildings, linguistics, nature, stupid flash animations, 33, meeting new people, and good lovin'

I'd like to meet:

Sensible people who are serious about the company they keep. People who are passionate about living, and have something to say and something to learn. People who value and respect themselves and others...
WRITE ME A MESSAGE if you don't know me and want to be added.

Most "modern rock" is dead, IMO. If anyone out there knows of any rock that's still rockin', let me know, I'm all ears... FYI: I hate emo. Seriously. Who would have thought a whole genre of awful music could stand on the premise of poor personal relationship skills and the inability to come to terms with feeling sad?

Movies:

The Blues Brothers, Casino, Syriana, Traffic, V for Vendetta, Run Lola Run, Hackers, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Fight Club, Memoirs of a Geisha, American Beauty, Lost in Translation, Requiem for a Dream, Schindler's List, Blow Up, Nowhere in Africa, A Clockwork Orange, Jurassic Park, Star Wars (3-6), THX1138, Pulp Fiction, Hero, Octopussy and other Bond films, Mrs. Doubtfire, The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Scent of a Woman, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Life Aquatic, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Lucia y el Sexo, Waking Life, KOYAANISQATSI, Bourne Supremacy, Indiana Jones series, High Fidelity, Kill Bill 1 and 2, Le Auberge Espagnole, UHF, 24 Hour Party People, Orgasmo, Braveheart, The Hunt for Red October, March of the Penguins, Austin Powers, Boogie Nights, Blow, The Godfather, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, The Beat that my Heart Skipped, Amelie, Pepi, Luci, Bom, y Otras Chicas del Monton (The groundbreaking offering from Almodovar), The Motorcycle Diaries, Ray, It's a Wonderful Life, Martial Law (by Alex Jones) which is even better than another favorite- Fahrenheit 9/11, Snatch, Trainspotting, The Matrix, Jackie Chan and king fu films, any number of cheesy rave movies (Go!, Groove, Human Traffic, etc... awful! love it!) (I do it for the nod), The cow movie (will debut in Cannes 2007)

Television:

Who cares? Really. If what you watch on TV defines you as a person, you need less time in front of the TV. As in no time at all.If I had to list some programming I like on TV it would be Conan O'Brien, Family Guy, the Discovery Channel, and the History Channel. Why? The aforementioned shows/channels either teach me something or make fun of this sorry, brainwashed nation. :-)

Books:

1984, Invisible Man, The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Ishmael, Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Techno Rebels, and Miles: The Miles Davis Autobiography.

Heroes:

everyday people who do things out of kindness. ...and Keith Olbermann.
