About Me

I was born and raised in southern California. I grew up in Granada Hills, a suburb of Los Angeles. I spent the 60's and the 70's reading comics, going to movies, getting good grades, acting in school plays, singing, going to the beach, and enjoying being a kid.
At the dawn of the 80's, I was up in Berkeley enjoying the culture shock of northern California and the leftover hippie lifestyle that still permeated Berkeley at the time. I continued to read comics, go to movies, get good grades, act in plays, and sing. Not as much beach going (it was always pretty cold at the beach up there).
In the late 80's, I shuttled between Granada Hills and Malibu for law school. I attended Pepperdine, which was at the completely opposite end of the spectrum from Berkeley - a conservative Christian private school. The example I always give is that during my first year at Berkeley, Reagan was elected President, and people took to the streets on election night to hold candlelight vigils for the country. My first year at Pepperdine, they hung Walter Mondale in effigy, and cheered "Reagan" during a mock debate between stand-ins for the two Presidential candidates. (Oh, yeah - I was still reading comics, going to movies, getting good grades. Didn't act anymore, and didn't do much singing. Started going out dancing a lot more.)
I like artistic things. I like people who have talent and are using it, whether it's in music, art, writing, acting, filmmaking, dance, computer graphics, or whatever. You don't have to be the next McCartney, Vonnegut, Brando, Hitchcock, Nureyev, or [don't really know any famous computer graphics names] to be my friend, however. I like people who are here not just to fatten the list of friends on their post. I like people who post bulletins (even if they're just tired old jokes or those cut & repost lists).
Nowadays, I stay up late with cable television in the wee hours of the morning, and occasionally swap messages with the folks here on myspace. I like all things Scottish, Shakespeare, comic books (still!), all different kinds of music, and constantly discovering new places, things, and events in L.A.
I work in the mid-Wilshire area (now called "Koreatown"), though my practice takes me all over the place. I like to try new things, from art museums and classical music concerts to goth-fetish clubs and comic book conventions. Just here to meet interesting people.

My Interests

Photos by me!

I'd like to meet:

Like I said above, I like artistic people. I like people who are going to add me to their list and send me messages, not just add me to their list and forget about me. I get along better with women than with men, and despite whatever impression you may form of me from examining my friends list, I am not simply collecting beautiful women as friends. I make an effort to interact with the people on my friends list, and hopefully, if you like a slightly skewed sense of humor, a vocabulary that eschews slang, and someone who believes in complete sentences, then take a chance, and add me or asked to be added!

Oh, and, in no particular order: Aishwarya Rai; Justice Howard (in person; I've only "known" her online); Katincat; Kevin Smith; Bobbette, John Cleese; Sharon Tay; Tyra Banks (went to a taping of her talk show, but of course I didn't get to meet her); William Shatner; Elva; Vickie; Michaela Pereira; Super Amanda; Pete Townshend; Roger Daltrey; Gerry Spence; All the Nina's; Sean Connery; Kenneth Branagh; Condoleeza Rice; the Heathers whom I haven't met yet; Eddie Izzard; Uma Thurman; Havana Ginger (got a pic of her but still haven't met her); Neil Gaiman; Lauren aka "Flawless"; Quentin Tarantino; Anabel; Sir Ian McKellan; Emperor Norton I; Billy Connolly; Gina!; Wendy aka Combattente; Dame Judi Dench; and one of the two ladies who got me on to myspace in the first place, Somaya Reece (we've known each other online for what seems like forever, but we've never actually met). And most definitely, Gia LaShay!!! And each of my friends on MySpace that I haven't met yet! And Rosario Dawson. Oh, wait: I've already met her!

(Photos) "Forget about it, Jake. It's Chinatown."

P>Well, Chinatown looks a lot different now than it did when they filmed the 1930's version of it in Roman Polanski's movie,"Chinatown". Frankly, I didn't find any especially interesting architecture...
