THE NOVENAThe Twenty-four "Glory be to the Father's" novena can be said at any time. However, the ninth to the seventeenth or the month is particularly recommended, for on those days the petitioner joins in prayer with all those making the novena. The "Glory Be to the Father" praising the Holy Trinity is said twenty-four times each of the nine days in thanksgiving for all the blessings and favors given to Saint Theresa or the Child Jesus during the twenty-four years or her life. In addition, this or a similar prayer may be used:Holy Trinity, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost, I thank Thee for all the blessings and favors Thou hast showered upon the soul of Thy servant Theresa of the Child Jesus, during the twenty-four years she spent here on earth, and in consideration of the merits of this Thy most beloved Saint, I beseech Thee to grant me this favor, if it is in accordance with Thy most Holy Will and is not an obstacle to my salvation."After this Prayer, follow the twenty-four "Glory be to the Father's" between each of which may be included this short prayer: "Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus, pray for us."GLORY BE PRAYER" "Glory be to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, as it was in the begining is now and ever shall be, world without end Amen." .
Novena to St. Therese of Lisieux
"The Little Flower"Little Flower Novena PrayerSt. Therese, who in your short life attained to angelic purity, generous love, and wholehearted surrender to Almighty God, pray for us who trust in you.
You have received the reward of your virtues; obtain for us the grace to be pure of heart and to avoid whatever may tarnish any virtue pleasing to God.
May we know in every need the power of your prayer for us, comfort us in the sorrows of this life and especially at its end, that we be worthy to share your happiness in Heaven. Amen.
Pray for us, blessed Therese,
that we may be worthy of
the promises of Christ.
Let us pray:
O Lord, Who has said: "Unless you become as little children, you shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven," grant us, we implore you, to walk in the footsteps of St. Therese.
Amen. The Nine Day Novena To St. ThereseIntention for the FIRST DAY: Faith
Almighty God and Creator of all things, to overcome luke warmness and inflame souls with Your love, You have enriched the soul of Your Little Flower with such firm faith that she longed to give her life for You. I ask You, by the merits of her lively faith to infuse in me a like faith. Grant that I may believe all the truths taught by the Catholic Church and practice until death all virtues. Amen.
Our Father..., Hail Mary..., Glory Be... O Lord, Who has said: "Unless you become as little children, you shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven," grant us, we implore you, to walk in the footsteps of St. Therese.
Amen.Intention for the SECOND DAY: Hope
Almighty God, You Who are glorified in Your saints, grant me the gift of hope as was evident in the life of St. Therese, that I may believe firmly in Your words: "Whatever you ask in My Name shall be given to you."
As St. Therese turned away from the vanities of this world and consecrated herself to You with, "O blessed apostle Jude, who has been instrumental in gathering us here together this day, grant that we may always serve Jesus Christ as he deserves to be served, giving of our best efforts in living as he wishes us to live. May we dispose our hearts and minds that god will always be inclined to listen to our prayers and petitions, especially those petitions which we entrust to your care and for which we ask you to plead for us (request). Grant that we may be enlightened as to what is best for us, in the present and future, not forgetting the blessings we have received in the past. Amen.
St. Jude, pray for us
My Jesus, Mercy.
Our Father..., Hail Mary..., Glory Be... O Lord, Who has said: "Unless you become as little children, you shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven," grant us, we implore you, to walk in the footsteps of St. Therese.
Amen.Intention for the THIRD DAY: Hope
My Jesus, grant that I may love You as much as St. Therese, Your Little Flower, and say with her: "My Jesus, I beg You only for Your love, without limits and without bounds. Grant, my Jesus, that I may love You with the strength of a martyr. I wish to love You as You never have been loved." And you, St.Therese, help me to be ever grateful to Him Who loves me so much. Amen.
Our Father..., Hail Mary..., Glory Be... O Lord, Who has said: "Unless you become as little children, you shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven," grant us, we implore you, to walk in the footsteps of St. Therese.
Amen.Intention for the Fourth Day: Submission
My Lord and my God, You always will what is best for me. As Your Little Flowers consecrated herself to You to endure all sufferings and pain, may I accept with perfect resignation and even cheerfulness all the hardships that come to me in life, that I may be able to say, as did Your beloved spouse: "Jesus, I offer my hardships to You in the name of Your love." Amen.
Our Father..., Hail Mary..., Glory Be... O Lord, Who has said: "Unless you become as little children, you shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven," grant us, we implore you, to walk in the footsteps of St. Therese.
Amen.Intention for the FIFTH DAY: Patience
My Lord, Innicence Itself, You endured all forms of shameful treatment for love of me. Give me the humility, self-denial, and patience to imitate Your servant, St. Therese of the Child Jesus, and say with all my heart: My despised Jesus, grant me, by the merits of Your humility and patience, to bear with a calm spirit all the sufferings of this life, and then to enjoy Your company with Your servant, the Little Flower. Amen.
Our Father..., Hail Mary..., Glory Be... O Lord, Who has said: "Unless you become as little children, you shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven," grant us, we implore you, to walk in the footsteps of St. Therese.
Amen.Intention for the SIXTH DAY: Simplicity
My sweet Jesus, give me the charity and simplicity of St. Therese. She said her mission in Heaven would be to make others love God as she loved Him, and to teach others to seek and find God in the "little" things in life. Grant that I may not rest until I love God with all my strength and with the childlike simplicity of the Little Flower. Amen.
Our Father..., Hail Mary..., Glory Be... O Lord, Who has said: "Unless you become as little children, you shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven," grant us, we implore you, to walk in the footsteps of St. Therese.
Amen.Intention for the SEVENTH DAY: Humility
My Jesus, give the grace to practice virtue in little things. It is sometimes difficult, but I trust in Your goodness, and Your love for humble persons. I am too weak to climb the ladder of perfection alone, but I know that I shall obtain from You the help I hope for. I join the Little Flower in asking You for this blessing. Amen.
Our Father..., Hail Mary..., Glory Be... O Lord, Who has said: "Unless you become as little children, you shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven," grant us, we implore you, to walk in the footsteps of St. Therese.
Amen.Intention for the EIGHTH DAY: Doing for Others
My God and my Love, give me on earth the same mission You gave Your Little Flower in Heaven, of spending my life doing good to me neighbor. My Jesus, help me to console all men and encourage them to love You. May all love You as Your Immaculate Mother, Your foster father, St. Joseph, Your holy angels, ans St. Therese love You. Allow me to pray with her: "Let Your divine glance rest upon a vast number of little souls, worthy of Your love." Amen.
Our Father..., Hail Mary..., Glory Be... O Lord, Who has said: "Unless you become as little children, you shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven," grant us, we implore you, to walk in the footsteps of St. Therese.
Amen.Intention for the NINTH DAY: Happy Death
My dear Lord, grant me the same child-like love for Your foster father and Your holy immaculate Mother as St. Therese had. And you, St. Therese, ask my great protector and father, St. Joseph, and my holy Mother, Mary, to obtain for me the grace of dying in the friendship of Jesus and expressing your own words: "My God, I love You." Amen.
Our Father..., Hail Mary..., Glory Be... O Lord, Who has said: "Unless you become as little children, you shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven," grant us, we implore you, to walk in the footsteps of St. Therese.
Amen.

PRAYERS TO ST. THERESE? Do you feel worthless sometimes? Does your life seem meaningless? Prayers to St. Therese of Lisieux, pictured at left, (who is affectionately known as the “Little Flowerâ€) can help remind you that in God’s eyes your “nothingness†is really something, as long as you give Him your best each day! What’s more, you don’t need to be a “big shot†or a hero to be worthy of His love. St. Therese’s “little way†calls us all to a very special kind of holiness, that of doing God’s work out of love for Him in the way we handle our daily chores and cares. St. Therese, born Therese Martin to a devout French family in 1873, became a Carmelite nun in 1888. She didn't consider herself to be particularly special in her short life. Yet, with characteristic humility, she wrote in her memoir Story of A Soul, written at the behest of her superiors, that “I may aspire to sanctity in spite of my littleness. For me to become great is impossible, I must bear with myself and my many imperfections; but I will seek out a means of getting to Heaven by a little way.†Her idea was for us to do everything in life especially the little things out of love for God and for our neighbors. We shouldn’t expect a reward or even recognition. Doing daily chores, being gracious in dealing with others (especially when this is difficult!), smiling at someone, saying a kind word of encouragement: these actions are all part of St. Therese’s “little way.†In our prayers to St. Therese we can ask for her help in following this simple yet beautiful approach to our spirituality. This little Carmelite Nun so loved our Lord, in imitating His call for humility and service, that she made the ordinary extraordinary! Soon after her untimely death from tuberculosis in 1897, Story of a Soul touched so many hearts so quickly that it was widely translated and published throughout the world, and Therese was canonized as a saint in 1925! At the Carmelite convent, St. Therese took the name “Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face.†This reflected her devotion to approaching Jesus with the simple trust of a child, as well as her inspiration by the image of His Holy Face to do His work “hidden†and “forgotten,†as she put it. She wished to emulate our Lord in His profound humility and love for us in His passion! (Thus, on a side note, don’t think that “Prayers to St. Therese of the Child Jesus,†“Prayers to St. Therese of the Child Jesus and of the Holy Face,†or even “Prayers to St. Therese the Little Flower of Jesus,†listed in prayer books or online, refer to different people. These are all prayers to St. Therese of Lisieux! Sometimes she is referred to as St. Teresa, but usually with one of the above names added to distinguish her from St. Teresa of Avila.) St. Therese wrote of herself in her autobiography as “The Little Flower,†who “rejoices in the wholly undeserved favors bestowed upon her by Our Lord. She knows that she had nothing in herself worthy of attracting Him: His Mercy alone showered blessings on her.†She added “I will let no tiny sacrifice pass, no look, no word. I wish to profit by the smallest actions, and to do them for Love. I wish to suffer for Love’s sake, and for Love’s sake even to rejoice: thus shall I strew flowers.†Among prayers to St. Therese, this one touches on the Little Flower’s “little way†itself: O Little Therese of the Child Jesus, Please pick a rose for me From the heavenly gardens And send it to me As a message of love. O little flower of Jesus, Ask God today to grant the favors I now place with confidence In your hands. (Mention your specific requests) St. Therese, help me to always believe, As you did, In God's great love for me, So that I might imitate your "Little Way" each day. Amen Some prayers to St. Therese, like the novena below, ask for her help in loftier terms. It is a beautifully divine irony that she who thought herself incapable of doing great things has been credited with numerous miracles since her death. O Glorious St. Therese, whom Almighty God has raised up to aid and inspire the human family, I implore your Miraculous Intercession. You are so powerful in obtaining every need of body and spirit from the Heart of God. Holy Mother Church proclaims you 'Prodigy of Miracles... the Greatest Saint of Modern Times.' Now I fervently beseech you to answer my petition (mention here) and to carry out your promises of spending Heaven doing good on earth...of letting fall from Heaven a Shower of Roses. Little Flower, give me your childlike faith, to see the Face of God in the people and experiences of my life, and to love God with full confidence. St. Therese, my Carmelite Sister, I will fulfill your plea 'to be made known everywhere' and I will continue to lead others to Jesus through you. Amen Let your prayers to St. Therese shower you with a fragrant spiritual bouquet to help you on your “little way†to Heaven with God’s help and His love. Remember, no one is too little or no task is insignificant in God’s eyes if it is done out of love for Him in accordance with his will. The janitor is as precious to Him as the movie star or the high powered executive. In a world full of hype and flash, that thought, much like the prayers to St. Therese above and others can provide comfort indeed! .
Jesus set the book of nature before me and I saw that all the flowers he has created are lovely. The splendor of the rose and the whiteness of the lily do not rob the little violet of its scent nor the daisy of its simple charm. I realized that if every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its loveliness and there would be no wildflowers to make the meadows gay./////////////"I have always wanted to become a saint. Â Unfortunately, when I have compared myself with the saints, I have always found that there is the same difference between the saints and me as there is between a mountain whose summit is lost in the clouds and a humble grain of sand trodden underfoot by passers-by. Â Instead of being discouraged, I told myself: God would not make me wish for something impossible and so, in spite of my littleness, I can aim at being a saint. Â It is impossible for me to grow bigger, so I put up with myself as I am, with all my countless faults. Â But I will look for some means of going to heaven by a little way which is very short and very straight, a little way that is quite new.We live in an age of inventions. Â We need no longer climb laboriously up flights of stairs; in well-to-do houses there are lifts. Â And I was determined to find a lift to carry me to Jesus, for I was far too small to climb the steep stairs of perfection. Â So I sought in holy scripture some idea of what this life I wanted would be, and I read these words: 'Whosoever is a little one, come to me.' It is your arms, Jesus, that are the lift to carry me to heaven. Â And so there is no need for me to grow up: I must stay little and become less and less." .
My intention here is to spread the word of St. Theresa of Lisieux. It's said that when you pray to Her, say your novena, you know your prayer will be answered when you recieve a rose. The rose can be in any form, well that's what I'd like to believe. From someone handing you a rose, to finding one, or recieving a rose through the mail or even on the computer. I've had my own experiences when I've said my novenas to St. Theresa. My prayers were answered and yes I recieved my rose, many roses at that, in all different forms, not just a delicate flower. One, and I know you will think this odd, came from a nurse who was tending my father right before his quadruple bypass surgery. We were all distraught to say the least. I was sitting outside his room as the Doctors were examining him talking with my brother. Since the day we found out he needed surgery, I began my novena to St. Theresa. I'm not sure now how many days it had been since I started them but I'll guess and say it was my fourth day. As we sat, discussing the posibility of our fathers death, a young beautiful Philipino nurse over heard us and joined our conversation. Somehow our conversation came to St. Theresa and how I was hoping I'd find my rose soon so I would know my father would be OK. She smiled and turned away, but when she did, the sleeve to her scrubs came up and I saw a tattoo. I asked her what it was and she seemed embaressed, saying that if she showed me I'd think less of her. I insured her that would not be the case. Finally she showed me her arm and there was a tattoo of a beautiful rose. She blused when I touched it and looked away, embaressed by it. Now normally I'm not one for tattoos on women but at that moment I felt so calm and knew that he would be OK. I asked her why she was there and she said she was going to by my dads nurse until he left the hospital. I asked her her name and she said Rose. After that I recieved roses almost every day until he made a full recovery. Not all were physical, some Like Roses's rose tattoo and actualy roses that I could hold and feel. They showed up every place, where ever I looked. .
Novena to Padre Pio1ST DAYBeloved St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you have had the signs of the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ on your body. You have carried this stigmata for everyone, enduring both the physical and mental sufferings that racked your soul and body in a continual sacrifice. We beg you to pray for us, so that we will be able to accept both the little and the larger crosses we too must bear during our life on earth and to offer these sufferings to God, assuring us a place with him in Eternal Life.“It is to your advantage to commit yourself to the sufferings that Jesus will send to you. Jesus cannot tolerate seeing you afflicted and he will come to you and comfort you, blessing you with many graces for your soulâ€. Padre Pio PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART ? 2nd DAYSaint Pio of Pietrelcina, together with Our Lord Jesus Christ, you’ve been able to withstand the temptations of the Devil. You suffered the beatings and the oppression of the demon of hell, who wanted to have you abandon your journey of holiness. We beg you to pray for us so that, with your help and the help of all of the Heavenly Kingdom, we will be able to find the strength to set sin aside and to persevere in our faith until the day of our death.“Have courage and do not fear the assaults of the Devil. Remember this forever; it is a healthy sign if the devil shouts and roars around your conscience, since this shows that he is not inside your willâ€. Padre Pio PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART ? 3rd DAYVirtuous St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you love Our Holy Mother very much and have received daily graces and consolations from her. Please, we beg you to pray to the Holy Mother for us. Place in her hands the sorrow for our sins and our prayers of reparation, so that, as at Cana of Galilee, her Son says ‘yes’ to His Mother and our name may be written in the Book of Eternal Life.“Mary has to be the star that illuminates your path and she will show you the secure way to go to the Celestial Father. She will be an anchor to which you must cling in the hour of temptationâ€. Padre Pio PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART ? 4th DAYChaste St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you loved your Guardian Angel, who served you well as your guide and as a defender and messenger. The Angels brought the prayers of your spiritual children to you. We beg you to pray for us, so that we may learn to call on our Guardian Angel who is always ready to guide us to what is good and to avoid falling into sinful actions.“Invoke your Guardian Angel, who will enlighten you and guide you. God has given him to you for your protection, therefore, you should use him accordinglyâ€. Padre Pio PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART ? 5th DAYPrudent St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you have had a great devotion for the Souls in Purgatory for whom you have offered yourself as a victim to remit their punishments. Please pray for us and ask God to send us the same interest, compassion and love that you have for these souls. In this way, we will also contribute to reducing their suffering and, with our sacrifices and prayers, win for them their necessary Indulgences.“My God, I beg you; let me bear the punishments that have been prepared for sinners and the souls in Purgatory. Multiply these punishments for me, so that you may forgive and save the sinners and free their souls from purgatoryâ€. Padre Pio PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART ? 6th DAYObedient St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you have loved the sick more than yourself, because you were able to see Jesus in them. You have performed many miracles by healing patients in the name of Jesus and thereby giving them peace of mind. We beg you to pray for us, so that sick patients, through the intercession of Mary, can be healed and their bodies restored so that they may benefit from the Holy Spirit and, therefore, thank and praise God forever.“If I knew that a person was afflicted in his mind, body or soul, I would beg God to set him free of his affliction. I would gladly accept the transfer of his affliction to myself, so that he may be saved, and I would ask that he benefit from the fruits of these sufferings... if the Lord would allow me to do itâ€. Padre Pio PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART ? 7th DAYBlessed St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you have worked in “God’s Plan for Salvationâ€, by offering your sufferings to free sinners from the chains of the Devil. We beg you to pray for us, so that unbelievers will be converted to the faith, that all sinners will repent in their hearts and that those with lukewarm hearts will find renewed enthusiasm for a Christian life. Finally, pray for all those who are faithful, so that they will persevere on their way to salvation.“ If the people of the World could only see the beauty of ones soul when it is in the grace of God, all sinners and unbelievers of this world would be instantly convertedâ€. Padre Pio PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART ? 8th DAYPure St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you experienced great love for your spiritual children and have helped them by purchasing them for Christ with the giving of your blood. Please grant us, who have not met you personally, the opportunity to be considered your spiritual children. In this way, with your protection, guidance and strength, you will obtain for us a special blessing from God, so that we may meet Him on the day of our death at the gates of Heaven.“It would be most fulfilling, if God would grant me just one wish (if it were possible); that He would say, “Enter Heaven!†This is my one true wish; “That God would take me to Heaven at the same time that the last of my children and the last of the people who submitted to my priestly care have enteredâ€. Padre Pio PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART ? 9th DAYHumble St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you who loved the Roman Catholic Church, pray for us. May the Master send workers to the harvest and give them the strength and knowledge needed to be children of God. Pray that Our Holy Lady will unite Christian people everywhere, comforting all of them in one great house of the Lord, the lighthouse of our salvation in the storm of life... just as a lighthouse is a beacon for safe return when there is a storm at sea.“You must always keep yourself on the straight and narrow path in the Holy Catholic Church because She is the only Bride of Christ and can bring you peace. She alone possesses Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, who is the true Prince of Peaceâ€. Padre Pio .
HAVE A BLESSED LIFE!Try this...
1. It is your attitude at the beginning of a task more than anything else that will determine your success or failure.2. It is your attitude towards life that will determine life's attitude towards you. Despite many people's belief to the contrary, life pays no favorites.3. You control your attitude. If you are negative it is because you have decided to be negative and not because of other people or circumstances.4. Act as if you have a good attitude. Remember actions trigger feelings just as feelings trigger actions.5. Before a person can achieve the kind of results he wants, he must first become that person. He must then think, walk, talk, act and conduct himself in all of his affairs, as would the person he wishes to become.6. Treat everybody as the most important person in the world.7. Attitudes are based on assumptions. In order to change attitudes one must first change one's assumptions.8. Develop the attitude that there are more reasons why you should succeed than reasons why you should fail.9. When you are faced with a problem, adopt the attitude that you can and will solve it.10. We become what we think about. Control your thoughts and you will control your life.11. Radiate the attitude of confidence, of well being, of a person who knows where he is going. You will then find good things happening to you right away.12. In order to develop a good attitude, take charge first thing in the morning. Do you say, "Good morning, Lord" or "Good Lord, morning?"Read these twelve points every day for the next thirty days
and see how your life changes.
