Mutant Bass Concepts! www.mutantbass.com

About Me

Hi! Welcome to Mutant Bass! My name is Posido Vega, and I am The Owner of The Factory (A.K.A. the author and artist of the blog Mutant Bass). I am a radical bass player, relearning the bass through the mind of a child---seeing music in it’s raw form.

As a result, the concepts and perspectives I share with you may be a little unorthodox. However, I have found them to be helpful in allowing me to play more expressively now. I hope they do the same for you!

It is important to keep in mind that all musical theory, labels, styles, roles, even concepts and perspectives, etc... are not the truth, but only help point to a deeper truth, and sometimes a deeper untruth. Adapting this mentality will free up your musicality tremendously, allowing you to become consiously aware of rules that ultimately enslave you and become more attracted toward musical concepts that allow for greater musical freedom.

It is time to unleash the Mutant Bass Player that exists within you.

Peace,---Posido Vega

Mutant Bass Players are a new generation of bass players. A flexible musical perception allows this new breed to play expressively under any musical situation!

There are 6 basic Mutant Bass Skills in which musical perception can be developed. A strong emphasis of at least one of the specific mutant bass skills is all that is needed in order to seem to posses mutant bass abilites!

However, in order to acquire true Mutant Bass Player status, one must reach a point where one’s bass playing simultaneously demonstrates the mastery of all of the Mutant Bass Skills.
