Born and raised in Vancouver, pop/rock artist Jessica Maros is the daughter of Slovakian immigrants who relocated to Canada to seek more oppurtunity. Keeping close ties with their roots, not only did Jessica and her family frequently return to Slovakia to spend her childhood summers, they spoke Slovakian at home. In 2003, she learned that her father had been somewhat of a troubadour in his youth and asked for his guitar. A few short months later, Jessica signed a development deal with Nettwerk Records based on the first 3 songs shed ever written and recorded. Enlisting the work ethic and ambition passed on to her by her parents, Maros began writing furiously and playing shows in clubs and coffeehouses in Vancouver, quickly drawing the attention of local fans and musicians. She began making frequent trips to Los Angeles and Nashville to co-write and taught herself pro-tools to create demos consistent with her own ideas and developing sound. In 2004, Jessica opted out of her deal with Nettwerk to more fully develop her own creative vision. As co-writers quickly recognized her individuality and raw potential, Maros compiled a tight circle of collaborators including Emerson Hart (Tonic), Jason Lehning (David Mead, Guster, The Bees U.S.) and Daniel Tashian (The Bees U.S., Josh Rouse) in addition to co-writing for outside artists with several A-list Nashville writers. Jessica has created an indie-rock-meets-pop style all her own and is currently recording and residing in Nashville.
