About Me

Hi, Welcome to Myspace - I am Tim Gaines and I play bass guitar.
I am probably known best for my tenure as a founding member of the multi platinum selling, Grammy nominated, and Dove award winning 80's Christian band Stryper (1983 - 2004). Being in Stryper was a great part of my life and I am grateful for the experience. You can catch my final performance with Stryper on the Stryper Live In Puerto Rico DVD released in 2007. I will always consider Michael, Robert, and Oz my brothers, and I wish them much success and God's richest blessing on their future endeavors.
Over the last 25 years or so, I have had the pleasure of working in some capacity of recording or performing live with a multitude of artists and bands - some well known, and others not so well known, but all great folks whom I consider it an honor to have been associated with.
I am currently part of the Grace Chapel worship band. You can catch us on Sunday mornings @ 11:00 AM CST at www.GraceChapel.net. It is a great church that I am blessed to be a part of.
Thanks for taking time to read this little bit about me...
See you in the funny papers,
Tim

Music:

As for music.... I enjoy the styles of old school 60's and 70's Rock, Soul - Stax and Chess, Motown, R&B, Blues, Jazz, Gospel, Funk, and yes, Disco!! .... I wonder why nobody does that anymore?

I was influenced by what I would consider some really great bass players of my era - Dee Murray, James Jamerson, Bob Babbitt, Joe Osbourne, Duck Dunn, Paul McCartney, Jerry Scheff, Carol Kaye, Wilbur Bascomb, Chuck Rainey, Peter Cetera, Graham Maby, Nathan Watts, Larry Graham, John Paul Jones, John Deacon, Jaco Pastorius, Rocco Prestia, Jack Bruce, Jeff Berlin, and Geddy Lee.... to name a few....
