Lanice Morrison, a native of Boaz, Alabama made his way to the Nashville area in 1998 by way of a couple of decades in Atlanta. Lanice has been playing bass guitar since he was 13 years old. In the early 70s he was a member of the band WARM who had a short tenure with Capricorn Records. WARM opened and shared billing with just about every major act of the time. After WARM dismantled Lanice ended up living in Atlanta with his life long friend, Ray Honea and formed the Ray Honea Band. When Ray died in a car accident in 1989, Lanice was not sure he would continue playing without his best friend and music partner but friendships and music go hand and hand. It was then that he and his WARM friend/band mate Mike Bruce got together along with some other friends and formed an all original band called the Hillbilly Romeos. Lanice and his family ended up moving to Nashville in 1998 where Lanice continued to play his bass in the worship band at his church. Through his church he met Michael McDonald. Lanice and Mike’s families became close friends and opportunities presented themselves over the years for Lanice to play with Mike. Lanice became a member of Mike’s band in early 2005. As with most of us, a journey of lots of dead ends, stops, left turns, u turns… you name it… a few things remained constant. Lanice’s love for music, his love for his family and God… the journey continues and only God knows where it leads.
