SEDARVP GHANA is a local N.G.O known as Social Education Development and Rural Volunteer program with its head quarters located in the northern part of Ghana. It is a non profit making, non partisan, non religious, non racial or non ethnic Centre organization, which aims at bringing together all orphanages and street children of Ghana for a better future.Again, this organization also aims at promoting good and quality education in all the rural and remote communities in Ghana. Enhancing good health, knowledge among rural communities is not left out. Furthermore, promoting good social life and dialogue among the people to enhance good governance. The formation of these organization came as a result the poor quality of education in our remote areas and the abandon children leaving and orphanages leaving and sleeping on the streets..Again it came to our notice that child labour, is always at an alarming rate in all the 10 regions of Ghana. , so that is why there was the need to coming together as volunteers to cater for these poor children through volunteer support, and also help promote good health, good drinking water, formation of youth clubs and the entire development of rural communities ,so our coming together as concern citizens gave birth to organization today known as SEDARVP GHANA.. Again with regards to the promotion of good and quality education in these remote communities came as a result of our numerous trips to all the remote communities, staying and interacting with the people, and finding out about their constrains and potentials. We realise that education is very low, and their lacking of living socially as a result of in adequate teachers in these communities. These problems are more or less a cancer to all the educational institutions in Ghana, especially the lower and higher level as a whole. So again, there was the need to organizes volunteers teachers from all over the world, who share or have the spirit of giving out their best to these poor and homeless children and communities not only in the educational sector, but to other areas of volunteer interest and specialization . This organization is designed to facilitate good performance of education in all the rural and remote communities through volunteer support. SEDARVP GHANA also seeks to addressing other social issues in these communities, by providing them good information to help hem make inform decisions on mattes pertaining to development. In a nutshell, SEDARVP GHANA is a broad base N.G.O that touches on all aspects of life that will bring development to the individual and the whole world at large. To remind volunteers, they can also serve not only on the orphanage homes, or the educational or teaching aspect, rather, their services will be needed in other sectors like the Hospitals, agro base industries, such as shear butter extractions, tourism site visits, and what have you. Among the inhabitants of northern Ghana 13 out of twenty are considered poor. The majority of them live in the rural areas without basic infrastructure facilities providing clean drinking water, electricity and good shelter. Most of these people engage themselves in farming which is not a secure income source because of changes in weather etc. Many parents do not have the possibility to put their children in school. This can be due to financial problems and others cultural practices, there are fewer schools in the area, even in some areas there are no schools at all, these people and the entire communities are in need of help in all aspects of life, most specially quality education, and many more. In Ghana as a developing country many people live and work without being able to affect their own situation. People who have had the possibility to get an education or who has a lot of working experience still cannot be sure to get employment in their field or even in other fields. People with ideas and dreams have no possibility to make them come true despite of hard work. 2. Our Vision, To help develop Ghana through education and through supporting the locals to reach their goals in developing themselves and their area. 3. Goals • To sponsor the education of underprivileged children in the northern region. And at the same time underline the importance of education to adults, for them to support their youth in creating a better living situation for their family and country. • To train the unemployed and underprivileged attain financial independence in their own town thanks to micro business. • To assist deprived communities through capacity building training. • To listen to and meet the needs of people in Northern Ghana. • Creating awareness and sharing of experience between Ghanaians and people from abroad. • To instill in Ghanaians the act of volunteerism. 4. Strategies • Initiate and support different development projects based on the requests and needs of locals and with great involvement by them. The projects supported are inline with the goals of SEDARVP-Ghana. • To enable an exchange between different countries in the west African subregion and beyond.SEDARVP INTERNSHIPSedarvp-Ghana organizes internships in Northern Ghana.
