JazzVocalLive was founded in Spring 2007 by three singers from Copenhagen, Denmark. Mai Seidelin, Randi Pontoppidan and Rikke Lie Flensburg. JazzVocalLive wants to grow knowledge of vocaljazz to the public. To set up concerts and events and put a spot on great vocalists with something to say but not necessarily are known from the pop scene. We want to present all kinds of vocaljazz, from impro and avantgarde to mainstream, swing, modern and childrenjazz. The commitee in JazzVocalLive has a lot of experience from organizing cultural and musical events: Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Danish Artist Union, Club Junction, Kanten and MusikCaféen among others. All together we own a huge network in relation to the music business. We value originality, a great artistic level and artists with own material. We set up traditional concerts but also surprising events and vocaljazz jamsessions. Our first concert series during Copenhagen Jazzfestival in July 2007 was a huge success with around 500 people in the audience at 7 concerts. Many people in the audience were enthusiastic about the clear concept in JazzVocalLive.
